Cadavers

If our last post didn't deliver enough chopped body parts for ya (well, real ones anyway), then today's cannibalistic cadaver corpse feast from the May 1953 issue of Weird Terror #5 should certainly whet your atrocious appetites! This one's pretty gruesome, I mean, "mortician's gone wild" should be a THOIA theme someday-- and also features a truly horrific hammer to the face panel that'll likely loosen more than just a few teeth, IYKWIM! And since two cadavers are always better than one, I've added a Skywald bonus from the October 1974 issue of Psycho #21 since its been a while for you text tale lovers. Plus, a funny Mel Millar gag! Forget from where though. And speaking of, a really nightmarish, sexy Skywald screamer is up next-- stay tombed!

Don't snark at that goofy lookin' vampire bat in the splash too quickly now, as Mannie Banks unleashes a blood sucker unlike anything else we've ever seen here at THOIA over the many past, monstery moons! From the maliciously macabre, May 1954 issue of Marvel Tales #123.

The Bone Man

An anonymous commenter the other day asked me to post an example of “stupid and derivative” so ask and yee shall receive! It’s not the best worst example I could find, in fact it’s actually a fun little stupid tale of sudden insanity leading to over the top brutality and gory violence. But then again it loses points for not being especially well written, and you can knock off a few more points for Mannie Bank’s somewhat flimsy artwork. It’s definitely inspired in a maniacal sort of way, but it was greasy shock stuff like this that really nailed the coffin lid tightly shut on pre-code horror comics in ‘54.
