Food For Thought!

Shadows of Death

As promised, here's another fright-filled fight against creepy, reekin' crime-- from the March 1954 issue of Fight Against Crime #18. The Poe-esque story concept and freaky deeky art by Jon D'Agostino is made only more bizarre by the occasional off-register coloring here which seems to somehow add to the spooky shenanigans! Maybe put on a pair of 3D glasses and see if anything extra eerie happens...

The Puppets of Death!

Did somebody ask Santa for puppets this xmas? Thought so! And you know that Mr. Klauswell is always more than happy to give the gift that creeps on giving! So Happy Horrordays, gang-- hope everyone gets everything little thing they want and deserve this season. Terror of the Boa Constrictor

Jon D'Agostino has not one, but two illustrated stories in the October 1953 issue of Dark Mysteries #14 (see our last post too.) And like our last tale, it follows a well tested horror plot we've all seen before; this time it's voodoo from beyond the grave, but it's still pretty interesting none the lesssssss. Among the problems of the story (of which some things I'll let you guys point out because I know a few of you think this blog is MST3000-- ugh!), is D'Agostino's inability to draw the leading lady with some consistency from one panel to the next-- though I do appreciate that she's a dead ringer for Cheryl Ladd in the center of page 3! Escape to Death!

A sneak escape from jail, via hiding in a coffin, is an oft-told theme in horror comics with an oft-familiar conclusion. We've seen it happen oft-times here at THOIA over the years, and this time it's from the Oct '53 issue of Dark Mysteries #14, art by Jon D'Agostino.

Snow Madness

A polar vortex has descended upon the midwest this week, so to assist in the cool down, here's an ice cold chiller originally presented in the August 1954 issue of Dark Mysteries #19, --and apologies for the quality, some black and white reprints tend to be a bit on the dark side thanks to the original lousy reproduction.
