The Moon Bat

It's time once again to blast-off into the deepest, battiest parts of ominous outer space with a fun sci-fi / horror hybrid from Charlton's short-lived, oddball, final issue of Space Western Comics #45, via August 1953. Artist credits go to Stan Campbell who also appears to have illustrated every story in this ish, as well as that great cover! And what a wildly smart mix of cowboys, science, monsters --and mmm-mmm-mini-skirts on the moon! Plus, a very funny final panel that left even cranky 'ol Mr. Karswell a'howlin' out loud!

Nest of Horror!

From the teeming, steaming jungles of our previous post HERE, to the weird, webbed corners of spooky outer space, it's now time to blast-off into more long-legged, blonde bombshell adventure as Gale Allen and her gorgeous Girl Squadron face some bloodthirsty butterfly men! Sounds kinda silly doesn't it? But you have no idea how creepy-crawly alien butterfly men can be! And don't even get me started on the giant space slugs-- ughh! From the May 1944 issue of Planet Comics #30, and highlighted by some really fantastic artwork from Fran Hopper --making her THOIA debut, finally! Curtain Call

Surpisingly, we've only seen a few posts here over the years from DC's great Secrets of Haunted House series (click HERE for more!) And today's entry falls under the "Tales of Destiny" banner, featuring the purple cloaked, Hand of Fate-esque horror host, Destiny himself actually interacting with the story characters as a foreboding warning to the shivery love shenanigans that await. It's a far-out Jess Jodloman illustrated tale that also adds in some mad science and sweet sci-fi elements for the final climactic, galactic cherry on top. From the August 1979 issue of Secrets of Haunted House #15. One more March post still ahead— stay tombed!

The Domain of the Doomed

Time now to finish up November 2025 right where we sorta started-- with even more King Ward weirdness! This is one seriously silly, sci-fi horror adventure, via the November - December 1951 issue of Forbidden Worlds #3. And while it's off the charts in terms of convoluted craziness, it's also packed with a wild assortment of concepts and cool creature designs. You likely won't forget this one, just as Bruce and Betty never forgot it after they returned to Earth and tried to recapture a little bit of that arousing alien action in the bedroom (see their own amateur home photo attached below!) I've also rounded out the post with yet another ACG "True" ghost quickie, --yep, illustrated by Ward-- and this time from the January - February 1953 issue of Skeleton Hand #3. We'll be heading back to Earth in a few for lots more, --stay tombed!

White on Black!

Wait, did you think we were done with Louis Ravielli in our last post? Not bloody likely! Yep, I have one more wonderfully illustrated tale for you, this time from the October 1953 issue of Strange Tales #23 --one that will surely send you all into a negative state of doom development! Okay, this was a hard one to clean up, yellowed pages don't fit well with a story told in this B/W manner, and I tried my hardest to make everything presentable so that the whole point of the story makes sense. (If you're not happy with what I've done here, that's on you. No apologies from me.) But if you're still hanging around afterwards and want another camera themed tale from this exact same issue, no less, then head over to AEET HERE afterwards for a dark room romp, and even a slice or two of cheesecake for dessert! *wink! Love Trap

My buddy Richard sent over this fun Iger Shop illustrated tale from the June 1953 issue of Strange Fantasy #6.  He also profusely apologizes for the blurriness on page 4! No worries though, this scary space story is still a blast, and somehow fits nicely within our month of posts-- I mean, it certainly feels like Farrell trying their hand at an Atlas style sci-fi horror 5-pager, doesn't it? Annnnd if anybody is singing "Love Trap" to the tune of "Love Shack", I beg you stop it now. I mean it...
