Almost forgot that I had a weekly weird wedding theme planned for June! So here's another one then finally, from the April 1973 issue of DC's The Unexpected #146, highlighted by one of Ernie Chan's coolest 70's title treatments ever! I'd also like to make a challenge to everyone here today to see how many of you can actually leave a comment without mentioning anything about the maid's name from this story. Good luck to all you Captain's of the obvious!

Twilight of the Cat
Mr. Karswell got himself a new cat recently, so to celebrate let's take a look at another fiendish feline encounter from the eerie November - December 1972 issue of Forbidden Tales of Dark Mansion #8. Ernie Chua delivers some spooky atmosphere and a couple of really interesting transformation panels towards the end of this fine supernatural DC classic!

The Worm Turns! / Pretty Poison
We're back with a squirmy double header of slimy fun (plus: Slim Jims for everyone!) --from the Jan-Feb 1978 issue of House of Mystery #256! Yes, 70's DC horror occasionally tapped the gag reflex nicely, as so with these two slitherin' tales of terror that'll leave you gagging for mo-- >>ARRGGHH!!<< More from this issue coming up in our next post-- see ya on Halloween!

To Wake the Dead
We've seen this type of story around here before: a rich asshole schemer ignores eerie warnings and awakens the vengeful supernatural-- but Ernie Chua delivers a really petrifying panel of pissed off dead at the top of page 5 (it's somehow even creepier than Nick Cardy's awesome cover art), plus a really cool, freak-out splash too, and that my friends makes this post essential for the THOIA Archive! From the August 1973 issue of The Unexpected #149. FYI: Fans of The Spectre should keep their eyes peeled for a certain police officer guest star possibly implied in today's tale as well...

Four Daughters of Satan / Nightfilth Rising
As mentioned, we're sticking with stories from Marvel's 70's Tales of the Zombie magazine series for the rest of February, but now focusing on some of the non-Simon Garth yarns featured. Our double header post today contains 2 classics from the March 1974 issue of Tales of the Zombie #4, the first story graced with terrific art by Ernie Chua, aka Ernie Chan.
