The Hitch-Hiker / Room for the Night
Taking a queue from the English here in early December with a traditional ghost story double feature to get you ready for xmas-- and for obvious reasons you know perfectly well why Mr. Karswell approves! Also, you know both of these classic supernatural tales, each has been told countless times in countless variations and cultures, and in some ways both have slipped into the annals of "urban legend" terror-tory as well! From the 1960 issue of The World Around Us: The Illustrated Story of Ghosts #24 from Classics Illustrated, artwork by Georg Evans and Reed Crandall on "The Hitch-Hiker", Gray Morrow on "Room for the Night."

The Fall of the House of Usher
Well, my inability to add numbers correctly has suddenly come to light (again), and it turns out that YESTERDAY was THOIA’s 1000th post. Guess I need a vacation or something. But no biggie really, maybe I’ll get it right on the 2000th post... and instead of dwelling on it, how about another Poe tale?

The Cask of Amontillado ***1000th POST!***
We’re celebrating Edgar Allan Poe’s 200th birthday (Jan 19th) all this week, and here’s another cryptacular classic from the June 1951 issue of Classics Illustrated #84. And not only that, but in my backwards ass ways of addition I thought tomorrow was the 1000th THOIA post, when actually TODAY is! So where's my cake? Don't tell me I gotta rip off someone's head and make my own?

The Murders in the Rue Morgue / Morella
Happy 200th Birthday to Edgar Allan Poe!
And we’ll be celebrating for most of this week with some of Poe’s most memorable horror hits. Today we begin the festivities with The Murders in the Rue Morgue, from the July 1944 issue of Classics Illustrated #21… followed by a bonus story!

TOMORROW: More Poe! Lots more…
Can’t wait until tomorrow for more Poe? Then check out David Tackett’s new Quasar Dragon II blog for The Curse of Metzengerstein, a THOIA submitted tale of terror from the June 1953 issue of Chilling Tales #16.
