His Own Funeral
Here's a real spooker from the September 1954 issue of Beware #11, complete with an incredibly interesting ending right outta left field that's absolutely overflowing with eerie implication-- so much so, that it takes this somewhat routine mad undertaker tale and propels it to a whole new level. See what you guys think... and what the heck, maybe I'll toss in an added bonus prize to whoever comes up with the best epilogue to this one-- I really wanna know what happens after that final panel when the rest of the fluid is used up!

Scorpion from the Stars
YAAAGHH! You asked for it-- "Scorpion from the Stars" from the April-May 1952 issue of Out of the Night #2. GCD says this was later reprinted in Charons of Hell (1983, Gredown), an Australian magazine sized 'one-shot' printed in black and white and featuring Gold and Silver Age reprints from Ajax; Farrell, Harvey, ACG, and Charlton, among others...

Stone Dead
A three-time loser stumbles upon a clever con job concept (one that you just know will backfire in face), in this weirdly fun Morey / Moritz tale from the November 1954 issue of Beware #12.

The Boy Who Cried Wolf!
Time for eight action packed pages of ghostly, Edvard Moritz fun, from the April - May '50 issue of Adventures into the Unknown #10. With its hilarious wise-crackin' dialog, tell me this wouldn't have made a great Bowery Boys film!
And be sure to check out Spacelord's new German website "Fifties Horror", all about our favorite subject around here-- pre-code comics! This one definitely gets the Karswell Scream of Approval!

The Undying Brain
How about another tale from the April 1951 issue of Adventures into the Unknown #18, and because it's been awhile since we've had a multi-post theme around here, this will be the start of a bunch of bloody brain stories to gently carry us out of February 2011.

Werewolves of the Rockies / In the Wake of the Werewolf
It's been awhile since we've allowed the werewolves to run rampant around here at THOIA, so load up the silver bullets and awaaaay we go! Our first action packed ACG tale is from the May 1953 issue of Forbidden Worlds #17, and features a very nifty set-up and isolated setting... followed by an eerie Sam Kweskin Atlas classic from the May 1953 issue of Mystic #20.

The Witches' Brew
Another tale from the March 1952 issue of Adventures into the Unknown #29, this time filling a witch story request for THOIA reader Emby Quinn. And after the story check out the DAZ renders Emby created (in the persona she has inhabited online now for over a decade.)
Awesome job Emby, and enjoy the story... this one's for you!
