The Eternal Fires!

It's always weird when I discover a story that I actually published in one of my books 10 years ago (aka DEVIL TALES) but has yet to ever be posted here at THOIA. I honestly have no idea how that happens, and happens it does. But this damned 'n doomed Dick Beck and Art Gates pair-up from the Nov. '53 issue of Adventures into the Unknown #49 is not only a good / inconsequencial example of when Mr. Karswell pulls a blog boner blunder, --it also still fits right in rather nicely with THOIA's Halfway to Halloween / Walpurgisnacht shindig happenin' in just a few days, anyway-- so whatev!

The Evil Eye!

We recently had a request for Ditko, and this gory great tale fits nicely into our awful wedded life theme for a true grue February freak-out! So ease back and watch helplessly as the witches (and the rats) do their absolute worst... from the June 1954 issue of The Thing #14.

Case of the Witch's Curse

Just like it wouldn't be Halloween without Frankenstein, monster masks, and Edgar Allan Poe (check out the previously themed posts featured here this month if you haven't already!), but it also wouldn't be Halloween without a spooky murder mystery set in a big haunted house on a hill! We've equally been looking at whack ass wicked Halloween witches throughout the month of October, and here comes one more! And okay, we've also called in Bentley of Scotland Yard a few freakin' times here already too, why, just this past summer even, (HERE) --but whoa Nelly, here he comes again already to help solve a centuries old death curse! So hang on tight to that burning, torturous flame wheel, cuz this one might leave you scratchin' your hollow noggins' while trying to name the killer before 'ol pipe puss Bentley can! From the September 1941 issue of Pep Comics #19, art by Paul Reinman, --natch!

The Inquisition: No Kings Day Edition

Lately the world seems to be overflowing with miserable cultists creating nonstop, needless chaos. Their lies and actions inflicting pain, suffering, and yes, even death is totally unacceptable. Fueled by outdated, and very unwanted beliefs and agendas, this way of thinking has no place in modern society, and we at THOIA aim our middle fingers high, equally condemning all wannabe tyrants and so-called kings and rulers who pointlessly crave the ruination of our lives, as well as the lives of our brothers and sisters. With that said, let's take a look at a similar form of historic, though no less Hellish hypocrisy-- The Inquisition, from the February 1974 issue of Skywald's Nightmare #17. And yes, this is also yet another gruesome glimpse / expose into how certain untrustworthy news media outlets spin and spew their garbage narratives completely out of control. (The more things seem to change, the more they stay the same, no?) And if you're one who still doesn't believe that things are in fact, very out of control today, then you my friend are simply not paying attention.

Voodoo

Buried in the back pages of the July - August 1948 issue of Exposed #3, (among the typical sort of bang bang gangster crime stories) lurks this hair-raisin' Harry Kiefer illustrated tale of vicious voodoo ultra violence. Swirling with demons, death dolls, and brutal torture, this is a wild little ghastly gem of grisly horror from south of the blood-soaked border...
