Aaron Pierre Fifteen Times

Usually I don't bother reading the profiles of actors in Men's Health because -- well I mean come on this isn't Playboy, we're not reading Men's Health "for the articles." And yet I'm glad I did read the one that goes along with Aaron Pierre's new cover-shoot for the magazine because how else would I know that his career got kickstarted by Barry Jenkins sliding into his DMs? LOL it's not quite as sordid as it sounds -- Jenkins went to see Moonlight star André Holland do Othello on stage where Aaron was playing Cassio opposite him, and Jenkins immediately saw the movie star we all saw the first time each of us saw Aaron Pierre. Still -- thank you, Barry Jenkins! (The two went on to make The Underground Railroad together, which allows me to remind y'all for the dozenth time that if you still haven't watched that masterpiece, do.) Anyway let's get back to what we "read" Men's Health for -- the photos! Hit the jump for the whole shoot...

Good Morning, World

It's Hump Day and I don't even know where to start
when it comes to Aaron Pierre with that.

Good Morning, World

It is a blessing that the fashion magazines seem to have finally realized they need to be gifting us with Aaron Pierre photoshoots -- see also this past Monday -- so at least 2025 hasn't totally murdered us yet! We're three weeks in and we have fresh Aaron Pierre photos to stare at -- deep breaths. If they can just keep giving us this sort of thing twice a week for the next, uhh, two hundred and eight weeks? (Damn you, calculator.) We might survive. (Wow, dark mood this morning.) Hit the jump for them all..

Good Morning, World

Happy Monday to to we Americans Happy Martin Luther King Jr Day -- I feel like there is something else happening today I hear but I sure as fuck won't be paying attention to that shit-show. Instead let us enjoy this new photoshoot of human-special-effect slash actor Aaron Pierre for Man About Town magazine (via) -- god he's gorgeous. Beyond gorgeous! He's fully in Michelle Pfeiffer so beautiful as to be somewhat uncanny territory. Like "how do you cast him as a normal person" pretty. Just a perfect, exquisite specimen. Have I gushed enough? (If you only knew!) (Eww it's early, Jason. Take it down a notch.) Anyway I have indeed been forced to come into work today so we will indeed be posting today and so let's get to it... but first hit the jump for more Aaron to get yourself gushing too...

Aaron Pierre Five Times

Oh looky it's another photoshoot that dropped over the holiday break that I haven't gotten around to posting! The ridiculously stunning Aaron Pierre, star of Jeremy Saulnier's highly entertaining Rebel Ridge and Barry Jenkins' masterpiece The Underground Railroad, was photographed and interviewed in Interview Magazine -- read the interview part here. In my belated defense the photos -- save the one above (swoon) -- are kind of boring, or as boring as looking at Aaron Pierre can be (so... not much) and so I wasn't in the biggest rush with them. But today I was ogling that shot above (swoon times two) and decided that the time has arrived! Hit the jump for everything...

The 2024 Movies Says Pajiba

My own personal list is still awhile off but today the team over at Pajiba (which yes includes me) revealed our communal Top 10 Movies of 2024 list -- click here to read them! Several of the entries are movies I reviewed so there are links to my reviews therein. A couple of the movies will also be making my own list I think, nut I haven't finalized that quite yet -- even better there's only one entry on the list I'm not a fan of. Anybody got a guess? I haven't been coy about it but nobody can pay attention to all of my bullshit. And I bet you Nosferatu -- which happily did make the list -- would've made it even higher on it if our entire team had been able to see it. Its Christmas release cut it off from a lot of folks voting. Anyway we did good, we rock, et cetera.

Good Afternoon, World

Hello there! Forgot about a screening this morning so we're off to a late start -- I suppose this is a good moment to let you know that I have a full day of NYFF press screenings starting tomorrow too, so I won't be posting tomorrow at all. Indeed the next few weeks will be sporadic as hell as NYFF kicks off, and is immediately followed by both NewFest and Brooklyn Horror. We're officially in it! Anyway as a treat here are some gifs of the gorgeous and talented actor Aaron Pierre via his new Men's Health workout video (I'll include the video down below too) -- if you haven't watched Aaron kick ass in Rebel Ridge on Netflix yet I highly recommend you do. It's a terrific movie (of course it is, it's from director Jeremy Saulnier of Green Room fame). Now onto the gifs! Hit the jump for all the sweaty heaving Aaron goodness...

Aaron Pierre Two Times

Uhh you're gonna wanna click on that photo to embiggen it. It comes to us via Men's Health where Aaron doffed his top -- or perhaps his shirt just shredded to bits Hulk style, or perhaps his shirt became sentient and killed itself and went to heaven, knowing it had reached the height of its existence, being draped upon Aaron Pierre -- and talks his new Netflix movie Rebel Ridge, which believe it or not is actually excellent! An excellent Netflix movie! I know!

It obviously helps (immeasurably) that the film is from director Jeremy Saulnier, the man behind Green Room and Blue Ruin, two of the best thrillers of the past fifteen years. Rebel Ridge isn't quite up to their level but it far surpasses the usual drivel that gets dropped onto Netflix by the sort of leaps and bounds that only a man of Aaron's shape and form (ahem) could make so easily. In all seriousness I've known ever since I saw Mr. Pierre in Barry Jenkins' The Underground Railroad that we had a big star on our hands, and it's a pleasure seeing him dominate (ahem) an action picture like this. It's more complicated than just "an action picture" -- I don't want you to think you're sitting down to one of those loud simpleminded Hemsworth or Reynolds hunka junks. The trailers might sell it that way but it's very much more than that. Check it out this weekend! And check Aaron out every goddamned day.
