Joshua Jackson Eight Times

Is anybody watching that Dr. Death show that Joshua Jackson here (via) is currently on? I have to admit I haven't totally figured out how the hell Peacock works -- it's free, but with commercials? -- so I haven't. But it's got a fun cast with Pacey excuse me Joshua playing an evil doctor opposite Alec Baldwin who, in this context, is totally making me remember the 1993 movie Malice -- remember Malice? Alec as an evil doctor opposite Nicole Kidman. I don't remember if I even actually saw that movie or if I just saw the trailer with Alec saying "I am god" like a billion times, but I remember Malice.

("I Remember Malice" would make a great t-shirt.) Anyway also on Dr. Death is Christian Slater and Grace Gummer and Dominic Burgess -- MNPP loves Dominic Burgess! He was so good on Feud. And I actually think I saw it is Dominic Burgess' birthday today too, so a happy birthday to him! Anyway Pacey has a show (I really should refer to Pacey more as his character Peter from Fringe since I didn't even watch Dawson's Creek) (or maybe I should refer to him as whatever his name was on that Reese Witherspoon show since that show was smart enough to put him in tighty-whities) so, uhh, anyway if you're watching Pacey's show, lemme know! Curious how it is. And here are six more new photos of him, after the jump...

Good Morning, World

.
This morning we're wishing Pacey pardon me Joshua Jackson a happy 42nd birthday -- I have no reason to call him Pacey, I didn't even really watch Dawson's Creek. In my defense I was in college when that show was on and didn't watch anything except Cleopatra 2525 at 3am on the nights I came home alone drunk off my ass from the club. What was I talking about? Oh right Not Pacey. These shots are from some 2005 movie called Americano which I have never seen nor know a single thing about, nor care to to be quite frank. It's not streaming anywhere as far as I can tell and it's not like I'm going to go buy a fifteen dollar DVD when I've already got Pacey's butt right here...

... right now. I mean that's all movies are, right? Shapeless miasma surrounding the butts? Maybe don't quote me on that. Anyway even though I never watched Dawson's Creek I've always like Joshua Jackson -- he was Blaine in Cruel Intentions! He was Peter on Fringe! How could I not? In all seriousness he's always seemed real level-headed and decent and then there was his tighty-whities scene on Little Fires Everywhere earlier this year and well, he deserves a happy birthday. Here's an arty shot of his bum from the well-regarded art-film Americano with which we shall finish this post:

There's No Containing Armie Hammer

.
I'm happy to report some happy Armie news after I wrote that negative review of his horror flicks Wounds last week -- he's heading back to Broadway, and not just for any ol' pile of whatever either. He's co-starring in the new show from August Osage County playwright (not to mention Greta Gerwig's favorite sparkly-eyed curmudgeon) Tracy Letts called The Minutes. The show almost won a Pulitzer when it premiered in Chicago in 2017 -- it's been set to transfer to Broadway ever since but got delayed until now. Here's how Steppenwolf's website describes the show as of then:

"In The Minutes, Tracy Letts’s scathing new comedy about small-town politics and real-world power, the writer who brought you August: Osage County exposes the ugliness behind some of our most closely-held American narratives while asking each of us what we would do to keep from becoming history’s losers."

Starring opposite Armie will be Tony winner Jessie Mueller from WaitressFringe and Altered States actress Blair Brown, plus a bunch of other theater actors whose names I don't recognize since I'm not a theater nerd. (Hey I know who Mueller is, that's a lot for me.) This follows Armie's well-enough-received stint on Broadway in Straight White Men, which I saw and even got him to sign my Playbill after, but I can't for the life of me find that picture. You try searching my Twitter account with the word "Armie" and see how much that narrows shit down......

ETA I did some hard digging and found the video:

Do Dump or Marry: Not A Razor In Sight

.
Well here's an odd little threesome I never would've put together for one of these Do Dump or Marry posts without some strange GQ Ball putting them together for me - we have a gallantly bearded Andrew Garfield (hey if Martin Scorsese wanted you to star in his next movie you'd probably carve off your nose so don't begrudge him some wooliness), a sharp as shit Pacey I mean Joshua Jackson (sigh I miss Fringe), and a somewhat bedraggled looking Taylor Kitsch. You know what to do in the comments!

Good Morning, World

.
I wish a better clip of this scene were online for me to gif up; alas - that's Seth Gabel sidling up alongside John Hensley on Nip/Tuck; oh that every morning's cornflakes were accompanied by that. That's the prize I want inside my cereal box! Today's Gabel's 32nd birthday and we're wishing him a happy. We previously posted a couple pics of Seth back when he first got cast on Fringe - aww Fringe. I miss it sometimes. Do you guys miss it sometimes? The last couple of seasons were a bit stillborn but I still enjoyed spending time with Olivia & Co. Anyway, let's get back to the real matter at hand - Seth Gabel's butt. Hit the jump for a couple of caps (they're crisper than these gifs, too)...

WTF Fringe

.
(click to embiggen) Did anybody else have a clue that Fringe came back on the air last week? I had no idea. None. Zip . Zilch. Nada. Granted I don't watch anything else on FOX so I could have missed the ads touting it but you'd think with the endless hours I spend online (so endless ) that something might have crossed my eyeballs. But nothing. Zilch. Zip. You get the point. My point is, nobody tell me what happened! I will watch it this weekend.

I Am Link

.
--- Rock is Cookin - Hot piece slash gigantor Dwayne Johnson says he might play Lobo, the hard-ass DC Marvel mercenary with a snappy 'tude and oft shredded wardrobe. They'd best keep the latter around, since everybody knows that John Carter totally flopped because Taylor Kitsch wasn't full-on nude the whole show. Don't go effing with artistic vision!

--- Second Cappy - Speaking of Marvel superhero movies (is there any other movie news in the world, after all?), Slash has a bunch of details about casting news for the second Captain America film, subtitled The Winter Soldier, and they are spoilery with regards to the film's plot... but if you're someone who reads the internet on a regular basis I really doubt it's the sort of thing you'll be able to avoid between now and when this movie comes out. You're gonna know who's in it. Anyway I also share because it explains the film's subtitle to me - I'm not familiar with the comics - which is a good thing, since I agree with Glenn that otherwise it's a dreary effing title. (I don't mind Thor: The Dark World so much though.)

--- Next Wes - Ahh here's the exact opposite of superhero movie news - Wes Anderson's next movie has a title. It's called The Grand Budapest Hotel. And it will definitely as rumored have Johnny Depp in it. Other names being bandied about earlier like Jude Law and Angela Lansbury are still only rumored at this point.

--- Franco Lovin - I haven't had a chance to watch this yet but Dave Franco and McLovin reunited for a second gay dirty talk video, which will inevitably be hot and worth your time, because it has Dave Franco. And no I have no idea what that cop picture is from, but you're welcome, anyway.

--- Her Name Is Olive - John Noble made a vague declaration about there being a Fringe movie after the fifth and final season (starting on September 28th!) and now everybody's reporting that, so here we are. I have my doubts; I've heard this thing too many times. (Sigh, Veronica Mars.)

--- Extra Extras - Over at The Film Experience Michael is talking the best of DVD bonus features and the comments are chock-full of favorites; the one fresh on my mind is the behind the scenes stuff I've got on an Evil Dead copy - there's this really hilarious bunch of footage of actors in demon make-up making ridiculous scary faces and noises at the camera that I could watch on a loop forever and never stop laughing.

--- A Song of Joe - Brick director Rian Johnson says he would have directed an episode of A Game of Thrones last season if his hard work on his upcoming movie Looper hadn't kept him from it and that he really wants to direct one still. That would be nifty. Can he bring along muse Joseph Gordon Levitt and give him a role where he makes out with Kit Harington? Or even better, Kit Harington + Jason Momoa. Some sort of alternate world flashback, whatever I don't care just make it happen.

--- Tannis Anyone - I know everybody's all excited about the Criterion Blu-ray of Rosemary's Baby coming out in October, and it is my favorite movie and all so I oughta be, but I really have never felt the DVD transfer of that movie to be shabby? So I dunno. I guess I'll see it with new eyes and be all "Wow!" but I am always "Wow!" every time I watch it already. A new interview with Mia Farrow on the movie though, that I could watch.

--- The Old Ones - I'd rather Guillermo Del Toro just say that his adaptation of At the Mountains of Madness was good and dead than keep any hope alive because it's too torturous, dragging that one out like this. Just let me go, Guillermo! Let my heart alone!

Good Morning, World

.

Five years of Fringe (or it's about to be, at least) and I'm only just now finding out Joshua Jackson flashed his impressive bum one time? Egads, I say. Egads. It's from some 2005 movie called Americano where JJ backpacks through Europe and "learns lessons" about "how to live" or whatever. But hey, if you're gonna have an epiphany, you might as well do it with your ass out, that's what I always say.

Psst TV

.
I have been terrible, TERRIBLE, terrible, at keeping up with the new Fall season of television. I had no idea Fringe was back this past Friday until Joe Reid told me after the fact (Anybody watch it? When I did get to it I thought it was an alright episode but kinda low-key when they should be hooking us back in), the episodes of Ringer that've aired so far are still sitting unseen on my DVR queue, and the show I oughta in theory have the biggest raging hard-on ever known to humanity for, Terra Nova, I just now notice is starting tonight? Holy crud! Dinosaurs, ho! (And hey there, Jason O'Mara. Ho.) My enthusiasms for TN did get a little battered and bruised with the months upon months of delays, but that's still no excuse. None whatsoever! Forgive me!

What have y'all been enjoying so far or still be looking forward to? I know it's like stepping on the proverbial rake over and over but I can't help but find myself looking a little bit forward to American Horror Story, even though Ryan Murphy can't ever seem to see anything through.

Where Is Peter Bishop?

.

FOX has released a ten second teaser for the fourth season of Fringe, and you're not gonna see much but it was enough to goose my excitement for the return of the show on September 23rd. It's over at Slash.

You can also see the teaser for the second season of The Walking Dead at that link too, which I love for its simplicity. Hot Guy + Bashing Zombie's Heads In = Win!

For Folks Who Watch Fringe Finales

.

Since Fringe got renewed for a fourth season I've relented on my nagging at y'all to watch, but this has kept me from even mentioning the show, to my shame. So here's a mention! The finale of the third season is tonight, at 9pm EST, on FOX. If you've been watching the show, then you will presumably watch it tonight. If you haven't been watching the show, well you're dumb, you should be, but tonight might not be the best night to start since there are about ten balls in the air and you might not have any clue wtf is happening. Or maybe it will be so cool none of that will matter; what do I know? I've avoided the trailers and commercials and everything about tonight's episode. So watch it! Or don't! Whatever! I'll hold off nagging again until next year when the ratings are looking dire again, inevitably. Hooray!

Momma Everdeen Be...

.

... the actress Paula Malcomson, who's probably best known for playing the mother on the Battlestar Galactica spin-off Caprica. Or maybe for playing the nasty adopted mother who drives off and abandons Haley Joel Osment in the woods in A.I.? Or perhaps it's Trixie on Deadwood? Anyway, she's playing Katniss and Prim's mother in The Hunger Games.

I was just having a conversation with the boyfriend about her a few weeks ago, because she guest-starred on Fringe and was terrific - she managed to make a very specific character that you cared about with very little time and material to work with. Anyway, I completely approve of this right here. Yes.

Happy 33, Anna Torv

.

Holy crap! You harlot! I've never seen this set of pictures before, which well of course I haven't, I don't usually go looking for pictures of this sort. But let it be said that damn she looks good. Anyway, that's something for those few of you here at MNPP here that might like a breast now and then.

As for me, I just want it to be known, remembered, remarked upon, that I've been calling what Anna Torv's been doing on Fringe great work since way back, and it's only once all the gimmicky stuff - her alternate reality self, her possessed by William Bell self - showed up that everyone else realized how terrific she is. I was ahead of the curve once dammit!

A new episode of Fringe is on tonight, after a few week's break. Now that we know it's gotten a fourth season we can calm down and watch the fireworks that are coming without a heavy heart. Hooray!

I Am Link

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/20022/spader-phillippe-gugino-seek-virtue-.
--- Give The Dog A - File under "Things you didn't know you wanted to see until you saw it" - Elijah Wood getting his face licked by a man in a dog costume.

--- Oh Liv - Hooray, Joe's gotten back into the Fringe swing o' things and reviewed this past Friday's delightful pregnancy-scare episode.

--- Marshaling Marshall - Slash has got an update on what Neil Marshall might be up to next, but Burst 3D gets getting glossed over and I keep wanting to hear about that one.

--- Pile Up - I've got to agree with Glenn that the latest poster for Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life isn't really equal to the enthusiasm heaped upon it. I mean I'm as fanboy as anybody for Malick's movies, but my reaction to this poster went from "Ooh neat idea," to "Eh, moderate execution" in about five seconds flat.

--- Women On The Verge - UCLA will be hosting a psychology seminar that will dissect the films of Pedro Almodovar! I guess they did the same sort of thing with Charlie Kaufman movies last year. Awesomeness.

--- Riddle Me That - Word is that Chris Nolan's third Bat movie will be his last, and then WB plans on rebooting the franchise immediately so they can get a Justice League movie made at some point. Uh huh, I will definitely hold my breath for this thing to happen.

--- Two's Virtue - Eric Bana and Ryan Phillippe in a movie together? Okay, yes, sure. Hopefully they'll rub their biceps together and build a fire. And then they add in Carla Gugino too! Yes.

--- And finally, one of the many appreciations that Nat and I share is a common adoration of Winona Ryder, so his latest post dedicated to this week being the 25th anniversary of her being in the movies is about as sweet a prize as I can expect getting out of this week. Love her, love the post, love it!

Hey, Did You Guys Hear The Good News?

.
Photobucket
.
Fringe got renewed! A fourth season will happen! Hooray!

We mustn't let this happy news let us lower our guard though. We must keep watching, and nagging at others to watch in turn. It is the holy way. that said, Fringe is on tonight and I will murder all of your relatives if you miss it. Namaste!

The Belly of the Ball

.

If you watch Fringe then you get this post's title, and if you don't watch Fringe then that's what I am here to yell at you about! Watch it! I'm actually hiding inside your home right now, and I am watching you to make sure that you in turn watch Fringe, and it you're doing anything else when it comes on I will leap out at you in my catsuit and abuse you quite thoroughly. That sounds sexual, but it's not!

I Am Link

.
--- Am I Not Pretty Enough - Turns out that rumor about Robin McLeavy getting the part of Mary Todd Lincoln in Abraham Lincoln Vampire Killer wasn't completely wrong, just a little bit off character-wise - she's going to play Abe's mum. (Mary Elizabeth Winstead is Mary Todd.) If Trent Reznor were still going to be in the movie (he's not) we'd have gotten to see him kill her, the rumor goes. Anyway super-psyched she's getting a role here, even if it's a smaller one. She must get much work!

--- Bell Livia - io9 recapped this past Friday's episode of Fringe, which I am an asshole for forgetting to yell at y'all to watch. I'm sure you missed me yelling at you, so pretend I'm doing that here. Do it!

--- Divide This - BD's got a pair of clips from The Divide, which is the new horror flick from the director of Frontier(s), which was a pretty okay movie. Word out of SXSW on The Divide appears to be very good. It stars Milo Ventimiglia, who I was just wondering about the other day, and Michael Beihn, who I just saw be terrible in Take Me Home Tonight. It has to do with survivors of some sort of explosion in NYC trapped in their apartment building's basement.

--- Whacks of Axe - Perennial creep Chloe Sevigny (her creepiness is what I like about her, of course) is going to make an HBO miniseries about Lizzie Borden. Awesome! Has a movie been made about Lizzie before? I've never seen one. There was an episode of Friday the 13th: The Television Series that dealt with a wax figure of her coming to life that I remember really vividly though.

--- Alien Boy - Logan Marshall-Greene, aka Marisa Tomei's boy-toy, who kept me from clawing my eyes out during Devil by having those lush lips, has joined the cast of Ridley Scott's Prometheus, as the male lead or love interest or whatever. Not to Michael Fassbender's character, unfortunately. Let's hope that in space no one can keep their shirts on!

--- Tick Tick Boom - Where will Thomas Dekker go now that's he's been Gregg Araki's muse, Slant wonders.

--- And finally, here's a behind-the-scenes video of that pleasant shirtless shoot of Alex O'Laughlin that I posted the shots from last week. (via)

This Is What Happens...

.

... when you don't watch Fringe. You die, and Walter molests your corpse. He'll probably be sipping a Slushee or snapping a Slim Jim while he does it too. So you'd better turn in. It's on tonight at 9pm on FOX. EW is saying that tonight's episode is, and I quote, "HUGE!" I didn't read what was at that link besides that headline because I stay spoiler-free for this show. But things have been heading in the HUGE! direction for a bit now so I am not surprised. How good has this season been? So good is the correct answer. So so good.

From the Mouth of Assturd

.
Has anyone compiled a list of the wrong names that Walter has given Astrid over the three seasons of Fringe? It must be somewhere online... I mean, there be a lotta geeks out here. And Fringe geeks at that, as last week's delightfully good ratings for the show's move to Fridays proved. Hooray! There's another new episode tonight and PopWrap caught up with Jasika Nicole, the actress who's been called all those delightfully ridiculous wrong names, and besides her expressing affection for the moniker referenced in this post's title I loved this bit of speculation she makes that I've been wondering about myself:

"Well what if Peter loves Faux-livia? What if your soulmate lives in another universe? Talk about a long distance relationship!"
.
