Good Morning, World

.
Today we'd like to wish a happy 38th birthday to the actor Toby Kebbell, with some gifs I can't believe I've never posted before -- Toby starred in what I think might be my favorite episode of Black Mirror, or at least it's the one I remember freaking me out the most, the one called "The Entire History of You" from the show's very first season, when the hot first-person sex-scene with Hot Toby Kebbell...

... was revealed to be this weird computer simulation.
and they smash cut from the above to this horror:

Jinkies! Terrifying. Anyway that's when I really knew I loved Black Mirror, the end. Are there new Black Mirror episodes coming any time soon? The show hasn't been nearly as good since it switched over to Netflix but here and there you get something that still shocks and surprises. And of course "San Junipero" is really The Best, if not actually The Scariest. Hit the jump for a couple more Kebbell gifs...

Who Shall Be Shang-Chi?

.
Just last week after watching the first new episode of the latest season of Black Mirror we posted about the actor Ludi Lin, who plays a much ogled at video-game avatar therein, and I guess we weren't the only people taking note -- the folks at Marvel did too! Rumor's going around that Lin, who has acted in plenty before -- he was a Power Ranger, and I guess he's in Aquaman too? -- is up for the leading role in Shang-Chi, their already-announced Phase Four superhero flick about the martial-arts expert turned self-multiplier. (Read up on the character on Wikipedia, like I just did!) Lin isn't the only name in contention...

... they're also looking at 13 Reasons Why and Riverdale Reggie actor Ross Butler, who's probably more of a "name" (and who's taller, which the article makes note of for some reason?) but who doesn't have Ludi's fight training. Who would you pick?

bike trail guide

I still don't watch Riverdale so I can't speak to Butler's charms, but I found Ludi to be plenty captivating in his scenes on Black Mirror so I'm standing by that man for now.

Good Morning, World

.
(via) Have we all watched the first episode of the new season of Black Mirror on Netflix, the one titled "" yet? If you haven't avert your eyes, I'm bout to get up in it. It stars Anthony Mackie and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, aka Falcon from the Marvel superhero movies and Black Manta from the DC superhero movies, as best buds from way back who find a new way to, uhh, appreciate one another inside a virtual reality game. I've only vaguely noticed some downbeat reactions to the new season on Twitter so I'm not sure where people stand really but I personally thought this was a terrific hour of storytelling -- surprising and funny and way more hot than I would've thought at first glance, and a lot of that heat came from seeing dude up top, Ludi Lin aka a former Power Ranger (class of Dacre Montgomery's), treated like a right proper piece of meat. This episode was built for any of us who've ever wanted to yank down the waist of the pants the Mortal Kombat character we're playing, and I imagine we are legion.

Witchfinder Witchfinder Find Me a Witch

.
First things first I recommend you go find yourselves a copy of Michael Reeves' 1968 horror film Witchfinder General (alternate title: The Conqueror Worm) starring Vincent Price to watch -- it's available on disc or it looks like it's available to stream via Shudder. It's terrific -- one of my favorite Vincent Prices movies, which is, you know, saying a lot given Vinnie's my favorite movie star of all time. He plays a witch hunter mad with power who starts rounding up women and torturing them during the English Civil War -- it's one of his most villainous turns.

Yadda yadda I told you three whole years ago that current day provocateur Nicolas Winding Refn was planning on producing a remake of this terrific movie -- well today finally comes a little more word on that, and it's pretty good word. John Hillcoat, director of the well-received western The Proposition, has gotten attached to filming it. Hillcoat's work is generally good and general hella miserable -- he made The Road for one, but really look no further than his last big thing the Andrea Riseborough episode of Black Mirror called "Crocodile" to suss that out.

God that episode was harsh. And now, even though having a female witch finder makes no sense at all, I am picturing Andrea Riseborough taking over Vincent Price's part and dying, dying, dying with the thought of it. Oh were it possible!

Good Afternoon, Gratuitous Fionn Whitehead

.
I really could've sworn to you that I'd posted some Fionn Whitehead pictures here on the site before this but a quick scan turned up next to nothing -- perhaps they went onto the old Tumblr before it got deleted? He's been mentioned alongside all the other Dunkirk Twinks (example one and example two) but no love for poor Fionn alone. Not even after he was so good on that Queers series! Well here and now in a post Bandersnatch World that's just not gonna cut it. I assume all y'all have watched that Black Mirror choose-your-own-adventure by now?

I sort of watched it, but the only device I could get it to work on was my iPhone which led to me watching it in bed which led to me watching it in bed after having taken Ambien and long story not quite short enough Bandersnatch plays on Ambien like a fucking nightmare. So I should give it another whirl when not under the influence of mind-altering substances, or at least that exact mind-altering substance anyway. Consider the twenty odd pictures after the break my reminder, then...

Pics of the Day

.
The first set of photos from the new season of Black Mirror have arrived! The first set of photos from the new season of Black Mirror have arrived! (via The Playlist) These two pictures show here my beloved Mackenzie Davis of Halt and Catch Fire fame & the terrific Gugu Mbatha-Raw in an episode from Owen Harris (he made the movie Kill Your Friends, which will only be remembered for all the time Nicholas Hoult spent in his underpants).

I think this episode might be set in the 1980s? Anyway the third season was snatched up by Netflix, instead of the British Channel 4 where the show aired its first two, and will drop in October. There are six episodes total - The Playlist also has a couple of images from the one starring Bryce Dallas Howard and James Norton (mmmm James Norton), written by Rashida Jones,  and directed by Joe "Hanna" Wright.

We are all big Black Mirror fans right?
