Paul Anthony Kelly Three Times

Alright I know some of you people are watching Ryan Murphy's Love Story series, detailing the tragic but deeply, deeply sexy romance between John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette -- I haven't started it yet so tell me what you're thinking in the comments. I'm especially curious (because of course I am, JFK Jr. has a tag on this here website after all) about this fellow seen above's performance, since as incredibly handsome he clearly is I'm still not seeing John-John, at least visually, in the pictures I have seen from the show (as seen below). Oh but there's our boy Alessandro Nivola as Calvin Klein too -- I'm pretty excited to see that. But what are y'all thinking? I have seen mainly positive reviews so far!

When Paul Anthony Kelly was cast as John F. Kennedy Jr. in Ryan Murphy's upcoming series about the late lamented John-John's romance with Carolyn Bessette we took note that his Instagram account only had 400 followers and said it'd be interesting to note how many he had in a few months -- well he's over 7000 now, which still seems kinda low, but then the series (which is called American Love Story, presumably marking it as a spin-off anthology in the vein of American Horror Story) doesn't premiere until February. Press is just now kicking off it seems, starting with this photoshoot and interview with Mr. Kelly for Interview Magazine -- read it here. My guess is once the show premieres his follower count will really take off. Because follower counts are all that matter, yo! Anyway...

... dude is obviously crazy-handsome but I'm still not really seeing JFK Jr. -- seeing as how that's basically an impossible task though I will give him the benefit of the doubt until the show actually premieres. What I'm more worried about is whether he can act, seeing as how he's really a model, with next to no experience. The interview itself is fairly boring so I still have no clue, but I had missed a lot of the casting announcements which he mentions -- Grace Gummer is playing Caroline and Naomi Watts is playing Jackie! Oh, I do remember posting that Alessandro Nivola is playing Calvin Klein, now that I see that listed. (Hot.) Anyway guess we'll find out in a couple of months. The Lights Are Much Brighter There...

Several reviews from yours truly are going to be dropping this week (if not today), starting right here and right now with my take on the third and supposedly final Downton Abbey movie, The Grand Finale. Click here to read my thoughts! I've been surprisingly kind to this franchise over the years, given its wealth-obsessed soapiness is not my usual beat, but I take it the same way that people during the Great Depression must have approached Busby Berkeley musicals -- a lavish distraction. And chauffeur-stud Allen Leech is my Dick Powell, I guess! As I say in my review this final film is extremely For The Fans, but it does have the good sense of gifting us with Arty Froushan's delightful turn as Noel Coward plus half-naked Alessandro Nivola. Of course I had a good time!

My review of the new Downton Abbey movie won't drop til next week but let it be known that Arty Froushan as Noel Coward is now my North Star

Nothing Comes Between Me & My Alessandro

Finally I get to post about Papa Nivola! No offense to adorable Sam his son who's taken over Hollywood twinkdom with his turn on The White Lotus but Alessandro will always be my bread and butter, so I couldn't run here quick enough when I saw the news that not only does he have a new role... he's got a new GAY role. He's going to be playing none other than the one and only Calvin Klein in Ryan Murphy's upcoming miniseries American Love Story, about the whirlwind romance between John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. Bessette was working as Klein's publicist in 1992 when she met John-John -- speaking of if you missed my post about model Paul Kelly who's playing JFK Jr. click here and familiarize yourself with that hotness. 

I guess there's a little bit of a physical resemblance between Alessandro and Calvin, something I never would've picked up on without this casting -- anyway you slap him in a white tee and jeans and let Alessandro do his thing (his thing being "act real good") and it'll work. And calling this a "gay" role is probably a bit of a stretch that will never meet those expectations because Calvin was of course married to Kelly Klein during this period, and also one assumes his personal life isn't going to be the focus of his scenes. But who knows! Leave it to Ryan Murphy to insist on a scene where Calvin is fitting Marky Mark for his tighty-whities.

(Which we should note was happening in 1992 on the dot!) But just in case the show doesn't have time for a Marky Mark excursion you can count on me to include a gif, at least! Ahhh those were the days. Anyway another nice side-effect of this casting news is I found this photoshoot of Nivola for Contents magazine that I somehow missed last fall around the time The Brutalist was landing -- read the chat here. Sam Nivola Five Times

Rather than leave you all weekend staring at my disappointing take on the Jai Courtney Shark Movie whenever you open the site, let's have a happier event on top -- The White Lotus' twink du jour Sam Nivola's new photoshoot for Dust magazine. He was photographed by the great Ryan McGinley so the photos are the good stuff (I got them off RM's Insta since Dust doesn't seem to have a link, at least not yet) -- I don't know if this is it or there might be more coming, but y'all make due. Oh and P.S. the Tribeca Film Fest begins today so I'm gonna be in screenings off and on for the next week so posting will be erratic. We'll see how it goes when we get there! White Lotus three-timer Jon Gries (dude pictured in the middle above who plays Greg / Gary) seems to've had the best time out of anybody on the seven month long shoot in Thailand -- his Instagram has been a non-stop beefcake-fest. But the above photo of him sandwiched between his co-stars Patrick Schwarzenegger and Arnas Fedaravičius really takes the cake. Cakes, even! Lucky man. See a few more below:

Happy Monday... well you know. All things depending.  I think we all feel like Patrick Schwarzenegger in this scene from last night's White Lotus these days -- a little sick, a little terrified, every time we wake up -- and who can blame us? Mike White tapping into the zeitgeist in a way only he could! Chaos reigns at home and abroad and entertainmentally speaking. Good times. I suppose this is where I ask y'all what you though of that episode if you watched it? I'm trying to be non-spoilery although these two gifs obviously say a little bit! Feel free to jump in in the comments, and I'll even give you a bouncing off point here with Sam Nivola's lil' bum...

Did y'all catch MNPP fave Alessandro Nivola during last night's Oscars show? I can't remember who it was that won (maybe the songwriters?) but they were seated behind The Brutalist actor and Nivola and his wife Emily Mortimer were sitting front and central on-screen for awhile as the people got out to walk to the stage and I yelped in excited recognition. (It was very the "Leo Pointing" meme.) Anyway Esquire chatted with Nivola about his custom-made tux and The Brutalist and his crazy year yesterday before the show, but my favorite bit was when they asked him about watching his son Sam Nivola on The White Lotus right now:

"You bet I have been watching season 3. From the looks of it, I may have to start watching some of it through my fingers. But I mean, it’s just amazing watching him. He’s done so well. I think he’s so good in it, and there’s something about his character that is so gentle and mysterious and really draws you in. I can tell that it’s headed in a direction that’s going to get a little hectic soon, so I’m bracing myself for the coming episode tonight. You know, Carrie Coon was texting me and wishing me luck for the Oscars, and I was saying I might have to slip out of the Vanity Fair party tonight to catch episode 3 before rejoining the fray. But, yeah, he’s kind of being shot out of a cannon now, and I’m so happy for him."

His saying "I may have to start watching some of it through my fingers" made me lol. No kidding! We've been leaning forward ourselves during Sam's scenes with Patrck Schwarzenegger but we have the benefit of not being his father haha. But in related news I passed out right after the Oscars last night and have not watched last night's episode of The White Lotus so nobody spoil anything in the comments please! I'll watch it tonight. Raise your hand if you suddenly want to be a water bottle! I believe this gif of Aaron Taylor-Johnson comes from one of the special features that will be on the blu-ray that's out on March 4th -- you can pre-order it right here if you'd like a look at those special features; the movie itself, well, that's up to you! It's not the worst superhero movie ever made -- Alessandro Nivola is a hell of a lot of fun and Aaron knows we're there to stare at his muscles and he dutifully obliges more than most actors in his postion. Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, all the Chrisses -- they usually gave us a single shirtless shot per movie but Aaron's bulging out all over this thing. Anyway hello it's Friday and I have perhaps never been happier about that fact -- let's get this weekend going already. I am cooked.

But mainly those shots from this past weekend's episode of The White Lotus need to be seen like that to be properly appreciated. As explicated last week after the premiere those are the "will they or will they?" brothers (!!!) played by Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola on the show's third season...

It must be so weird for Sam Nivola to play a person who is related to a guy with such a beautiful ass that it's impossible not to stare at -- I can't imagine where he's summoning that energy from

I was going to wish everyone a happy Monday, but it's Tuesday? Okay, sure. Happy Tuesday from me and from the fun-time brother duo of Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola on the season premiere of the third season of Mike White's hit series The White Lotus, which aired on... Sunday? Yes Sunday. Speaking as an only child sibling relationships have always been a mystery (and a fascination) to me, but I think that maybe this whole conversation about what kind of porn your brother likes was meant to feel off? In my days on this earth I have yes watched a lot of let's say fictional recreations of this exact scenario. But I don't think that's what real life between siblings is usually like. But what do I know. As I said on Sunday...

I'm going to have to spend a lot of this season of THE WHITE LOTUS reminding myself that Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola are NOT related, they are ACTORS playing ROLES, and the feelings I am feeling are OKAY, aren't I?? Damn you, Mike White! (I love you, Mike White.) #thewhitelotus

... I'm just thankful I can keep repeating to myself that these are two very attractive actors that Mike White has engaged in a fictionalized scenario for me, and not wrestle with it beyond that. Pretty naked people being freaks -- yes please! What did y'all think of the premiere? I refrained from asking for screeners so I could watch it weekly with everybody and not binge it all weeks ahead of time because that's an isolating way of watching the show and I don't need to review it. This is for me to have fun with! As is Patrick Schwarzenegger's bum, of which his father speaks very highly. (Speaking of weird family vibes.) As well he should! It's a great bum. Don't Forget...

... the third seasons of both The White Lotus and Yellowjackets are back onn T.V. this weekend! And I have illustarated this news with two photos of Sam Nivola, son of Alessandro, who is on TWL so you don't forget. Of course Arnold Schwarzenegger already did that work for me when he told us all to keep our eyes peeled for his son Patrick's bare ass. What a proud papa!

Jonny Inherits The Earth

I have mainly given up watching trailers altogether now -- I definitely didn't watch the one for the new Final Destination movie that dropped this week because when you're a fan as psychotic for a franchise as I am for that one there's no need. (And who else is about to do a full FD rewatch? I am so on that!) Anyway I didn't even bother opening the email I got this morning with the first trailer for the new Jurassic Park movie either. Excuse me, Jurassic World -- I really prefer using the Park nomenclature; y'all don't mind if I stick with that right? There's like half an hour of good content in the full World trilogy and I feel as if they'd be smart to return to the Park name honestly. Give us some hope this won't be more crappy nonsense! That said I saw some photos... okay I saw THIS photo:

... and I decided I should post about it because Jonny. And while yes it's true that Jonny didn't really end up making Wicked any more watchable for me, that (shrieking musical nonsense) was always going to be a steep hill for me to climb. A dinosaur movie with his taut biceps and shoulders on constant display? A far easier sell! It even looks like they get him into a harness and we all doubtlessly remember how hot today's It Boy Alessandro Nivola made that spectacle in his Jurassic turn! (Bring back Billy!) 

Anyway I didn't technically "watch" this trailer, I just went through it to make these gifs with the sound off, but the special effects look great, the colors are brighter than I recall the last couple movies looking -- I have all of my appendages crossed and knotted that this will be a good Jurassic movie. There is no reason for them to not be able to make good movies out of this material! It should be so simple! (How they fucked up so badly having all three of the original film's stars in the last one I will never ever be able to comprehend.) Here is the trailer:

Nivola in the Morning, Nivola in the Evening...

Everything is obviously shit but I woke up in a good mood this morning and I listened to this song on repeat on my commute which kept the good mood rolling so as I sit here I find myself trying to put optimism into the world. A monumnental task I have set for myself! Thankfully one of our faves actor Alessandro Nivola has done a lot of work on that front this week for us, so let's just take his lead. First off he gave us this new photoshoot via Avenue magazine -- there's also a chat with him there, click here for it. Seeing his smiling face always makes the world smile! But there's even more...

... do you remember that time he wore this tennis outfit in JC Chandor's film A Most Violent Year? I did a big post on it because DUH and hysterically the subject came up in a new chat with him at Vulture! It's mostly about The Brutalist but bless my fellow Pajibite writer Roxana Hadadi, who conducted the chat, for flipping the script over to the internet's thirst for him in these shorts. Here's what he had to say about it:

"Someone once sent me, I don’t know what you call it — a GIF, a meme, something — of that scene where I’m in my very short tennis shorts and there was some repeating thing of my ass filling up the camera frame. I figured somebody had posted it. I didn’t know that this was reaching a wider audience. [Laughs.] But I couldn’t be more thrilled."

That "someone" was me LOL and I am glad this Very Important Subject has been  carried out of this here gay ghetto and into the world at large. Give it light! Anyway I wasn't going to post about this but reader Harrison -- hey Harrison! -- messaged me, egging me on, and I figured since we have a lot of Alessandro to talk about today we might as well relive those shorts. Make a full tennis movie, Alessandro! The people demand it! 

Aaaaaanyway yes, there is even more Nivola News to share this morning -- the actor and exceptional silent screamer has just joined the crazy amazing cast of a movie called (wait for it) Diamond Shitter (lol!) that's to be directed by actor Antonia Campbell-Hughes, who you should know from Jane Campion's Bright Star or the recent terrific spy-series Black Doves. And what do those two properties I cherry-picked out of her sizable filmography have in common? They both also star Ben Whishaw, and yes our boy Ben Whishaw, the great gay hope, is also in this movie alongside Alessandro. Oh plus Eva fucking Green! My god! And also up-n-comer Raffey Cassidy who you should know from The Killing of a Sacred Deer or Vox Lux or White Noise -- Vox Lux was of course directed by Brady Corbet, director of The Brutalist (which co-starred both Cassidy and Nivola!) while White Noise co-starred Alessandro's talnted son Sam Nivola (who's about to be seen on the new season of The White Lotus) -- basically there's a lot of incestuous overlap with these folks coming together and I'm here for it! There's a Woman, And a Yard...

I know that Blumhouse thinks they're the selling point here so that's why they put their name on the poster but the real selling point behind the upcoming horror movie The Woman in the Yard is the film's director Jaume Collet-Serra, aka the man who gifted the world with Orphan. Also the 2005 House of Wax remake (how many times am I going to mention that movie this January???) and The Shallows and the recent B-movie thriller Carry On with Taron Egerton (which was, in typical JCS fashion, a heap of fun) -- this man does not know how to not make an entertaining picture. (He also gave us the hotness of Alessandro Nivola as a soccer player in the movie Goal so he will forever have my heart.) Anyway the movie also stars the terrific Danielle Deadwyler, so that's also a plus! The plot is pretty much the title -- a scary woman shows up in the yard. We're there! Here's the trailer:

Today has gifted us with a brand new photo of Jonathan Bailey in the next Jurassic Park -- excuse me, Jurassic World -- film, and looking at the way that shirt is hugging those shoulders and biceps of his has me thinking that Jonny is coming for Alessandro Nivola's crown as the The Hottest Dude in Jurassic Land. (Sorry fans but Chris Pratt has been nulled and voided for becoming the king of the douchebags.) I guess we will find out on July 2nd if Jonny is able to flex and woo the Velociraptors so hard that they stop rampaging with hearts in their eyes. or if he has to use those guns for sexy violence instead! The Year In Queer

I did very little work over my break -- we're talking very, very little -- but I did accomplish one thing of which I am very proud! I got to go deep -- well ankle-deep anyway, as they're blurbs -- on some moments in my favorite movies of the year that I haven't heard much discussion of.
