The Way To My Heart is With Cox

It's Friday! Thank Cox. I hate how hard I wish weeks by these days, given the amount of weeks I have less in my life... well it feels like the hourglass is fatter on the bottom now. But the world's just too much of a disaster and I need my two days of shutdown more than ever. And just think -- it's only 80 days until Memorial Day and then I get my three-day weekends again! Yippee! And then after that it's practically 2028 and we'll have a new President. Well, probably. Ugh and with that my stomach dropped -- see why I just need to be offline and on the floor for two full days??

Glad I don't have to review MICKEY 17 because it's like ten movies at once and only half of them are working but it's also really fun at times (I LOVE THE CREEPERS SO MUCH) and there is this shot of Robert Pattinson's ass that is absolutely to die for so consider yourself somewhat educated

Aaaaaanyway there are two count 'em two movies of note out this weekend -- one is Bong Joon-ho's Mickey 17 which I wrote the world's briefest review of above. It probably deserves more effort than that but... see everything I said at the start pof this post. I'm fucking spent, man. The other movie out this weekend is the horror film The Rule of Jenny Pen and I actually wrote a proper review of that one! But [insert 'womp womp' sound effect here] it's not going up onto Pajiba until tomorrow I believe. So you'll have to wait 24 hours for those thoughts. Will the wait be worth it? Probably not! I have nothing interesting to say! And that's why now I'm going home to collapse. Goodbye!

44 Until 17

Just as I can't seem to remember the number in the title of Bong Joon-ho's new movie -- every time I'm like, "Is it Mickey 18? 19? 12?" -- I certainly can never remember its release date because it's basically had 17 of those. But here with this new poster release let's look it up like a proper "reporter" and do y'all a solid -- as of today, January 22nd 2025, Mickey 17 is scheduled to release in theaters in the United States on March 7th. That's 44 days from today. Maybe they can go back in and photoshop Robert Pattinson's head a little bit better on this poster in that time? That is one awkward giant head floating on a tiny disembodied body.

Steven Yeun Twenty Times

These GQ "Men of the Year" lists have been a real godsend -- it seems like every edition of GQ around the world has been doing their own lists and so we've gotten big photoshoots of several actors we're always here for big photoshoots of over the past few weeks. Harris Dickinson for the UK last week, and just yesterday there was The Sympathizer star Hoa Xuande for GQ Austrailia. But one I've had my eyes on for several days and finally managed to gather enough images up from is Steven Yeun, who's featured in GQ Korea's issue...

... and no I don't get why he can't cover our American edition either since he's American but I'll just put that out there and not dive into it too much lest I spoil our fun. Mostly I'm just annoyed because Korean magazines are really aggressive about their watermarks so I had to leave the big distracting GQ on several images below. But anyway I did finally manage to scrounge up a batch of photos from several different sources and I've got 'em after the jump...

Boys Will Be Beefs

Back in February it was reported that the second season of Netflix's smash hit series Beef would be about dueling couples (meaning original stars Steven Yeun and Ali Wong were not returning) and that said couples were going to be played by in one corner Charles Melton & Cailee Spaeny and in the other corner Jake Gyllenhaal & Anne Hathaway. This obviously excited me! But then the months passed and word was bandied about that our Brokeback besties Jake & Anne were not reuniting for whatever reason, and that Oscar Isaac & Carey Mulligan would be taking their roles instead. And today this has been confirmed as official, via Netflix themselves. And... as much as y'all know I love Jake and Anne... it's impossible to be angry about this swap. It's a good swap as far as swaps are concerned! I love all of these actors and will watch any combination of them go at each other. That said since it's what we're getting... let's hope Oscar & Charles "go at each other" like the lord intended. We deserve that dammit.

I Quit Smoking 16 Years Ago Today

Well, here we are. My nicotine cessation can officially drive a car in the United States now. Today marks sixteen years since I touched a dirty filthy cigarette and sixteen years of me doing these posts of famous men looking hot as shit while smoking dirty filthy cigarettes. I regret nothing! I admit remain surprised that I can continue to find enough photos to fill up these posts, but I hear smoking has become cool with the kids again? I don't recommend it obviously, but I also can't lie...

... sexy motherfuckers be looking sexy while doing it. And listen, nobody should be looking to me for moral guidance. I'm just a fucked up girl who's lookin' for my own peace of mind -- don't assign me yours! Oh wait that's Kate Winslet in Eternal Sunshine. The point remains! Don't smoke! Unless you're sexy! Then do whatever the hell you want to. Hit the jump for a pile of photos and gifs...

Steven Yeun Fourteen Times

I woke up in a bad mood this morning but I gotta say the universe has been kind to me so far -- on my commute I got a roomy seat on the train and then I got an elevator to myself in my building, and when I got here I had the office to myself for half an hour. And then i read that Criterion is having its Flash Sale today AND now Steven Yeun took his top off in a magazine? Today is okay! Officially okay! These photos are for AnOther magazine -- yes the same magazine that gave us Paul Mescal in short shorts last week; they win all the prizes -- and if you'd like them all (and I really recommend them) hit the jump...

Jake is Prime Beef

Oooh okay it's a "two Jake Gyllenhaal posts in a row" kinda day -- I can roll with that, even if it's a Monday. If we can redefine "a case of the Mondays" to mean "non-stop Jake day" then we'll have fixed the world. Anyway I am sure y'all recall that GQ Korea photo-shoot of Jake that I shared last week -- well they posted a video of the shoot over the weekend and unlike this morning when I skimped on making gifs for Aaron Taylor-Johnson, I did not skimp on the gifs this afternoon with Jake.

It's a gif-o-rama! But gifs are not the entire reason we're here -- there is Jake News too! Well a rumor anyway, but a killer rumor we're hoping comes true. Deadline's reporting that the second season of Beef -- the show that starred Steven Yeun and Ali Wong and just spent all awards season racking up the awards -- is going to be about two warring couples, and those couples might be played by Charles Melton & Cailee Spaeny (so excellent in Priscilla) and... drumroll please... Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway!

Brokeback
reunion y'all! And that's before we even get to the "Jake Gyllenhaal warring with Charles Melton" sexiness apocalypse. Funny enough I was just thinking about Jake in relation to his Brokeback cast-mates a few days ago -- specifically I was thinking I wish he'd do something with Michelle Williams again.  I feel like I haven't seen the two of them in each other's company in a long time and was worried there's a rift (as much as I can or should worry about total strangers anyway). He is the godfather to Michelle & Heath's daughter Matilda though. Maybe they just keep their shit private, and more power to them if that's the case! I just miss my Jack Nasty s'all.

Anyway Jake & Anne have of course worked together since Brokeback -- perhaps I should have called this a "Love & Other Drugs reunion"! Now there's a forgotten movie. Which is a shame because Jake is fucking fire in that -- see some memorable photos of said fire here. It's an under-appreciated movie though, and Jake & Anne obviously have wonderful chemistry, and I adore this Beef rumor. Let's make it happen. And let's pretend that we can will it into being by hitting the jump and saying a prayer to the streaming gods right now over all of my beautiful Jake gifs...

Pedro Wants Yeun...

One week ago I shared with you the first image of Pedro Pascal and Steven Yeun for Variety's "Actors on Actors" series -- well the entire piece is now online and that there image above is even more of a taunt! I haven't been able to read it yet -- today is turning out to be an exceptionally busy day! -- but perhaps you'll want to spend your lunch break relaxing in those boys' laps. I wouldn't blame ya!

Pic of the Day

The Variety cover (via) for Pedro Pascal and Steven Yeun's chat in their "Actors on Actors" series is taunting us all! I feel taunted! If their video (which hasn't been released yet) doesn't end with even a little bit of light kissing I will start the second Stonewall riot, I swear it. Don't fuck with me this Pride season, fellas!

Young Mazino Seven Times

If you watched Beef on Netflix (I reviewed the series here, if you missed it) then you no doubt recognize Young Mazino, who played Steven Yeun's brother on that series and often stole the spotlight from his more recognizable co-stars. Yes, sometimes he did it by being naked! Nothing wrong with that. Anyway Netflix's Queue magazine were smart enough to get him to flash some more flesh for a new photo-shoot and interview -- click over there for the words, but I got the pictures! Hit the jump for them...

It Had To Be Yeun

Is that it? I guess that's it. I'm done for this week -- I'm calling it. I got nothing else to say, and I am gonna go home and veg the fuck out tonight. If you're looking for things to veg with -- Beef starring Steven Yeun (and his butt) is now on Netflix! It's good! Here is my review. And How To Blow Up a Pipeline is in theaters and very very good -- I reviewed that just below. Although that's not really a vehicle for "veg" as it's tense as all get out. Anyway you'll figure it out. I have faith in you! Bye!

Good Morning, World

Why milk just one post out of Beef (now there's a phrase) when I can milk two! Also showing some butt on the new Netflix series (which I reviewed here) besides Steven Yeun (which I posted here) is Young Mazino, who plays Yeun's brother. I love milking brothers!

Steven Yeun's Butt Says Hi

When I mentioned yesterday that Steven Yeun shows his butt in his new Netflix limited-series Beef (out today!) I didn't say it was the five-minutes-long full-moon view we'd all be hoping for -- that above is all we get. But hey baby steps! Since this is to my knowledge his first on-screen nudity let's just be encouraging! And next somebody can cast him in a sexy erotic thriller a la Lust Caution chock-full of nudity. Anyway if you missed it I reviewed Beef over at Pajiba -- I plowed through all ten episodes in one afternoon and it is a riveting funny and anxiety-inducing watch. Very much recommended.

Here is the Beef

Have you heard about Beef, Steven Yeun's new series on Netflix? Here is the trailer for it -- it also stars comedian Ali Wong and a bunch of other hot pieces in a tale of road rage most epic, and it's hitting Netflix tomorrow. Tomorrow I said! Well I binged the entire thing a couple of weeks ago and have written up some thoughts on it for Pajiba today, click here to read them. But really the most important piece of information is contained in this tweet:

Steven Yeun Nine Times

The interview is paywalled so I can't tell you if Steven Yeun confesses to a torrid love affair with his Nope co-star Daniel Kaluuya within his chat with WSJ magazine today, but we'll go ahead and pretend that. We'll spend some time sitting with that. We'll have to contemplate that, for awhile now. But even as we're lost in these day-dreams -- or perhaps I should say helping out these day-dreams -- are the photos. We got all of the photos thanks to Steven himself on Insta. Subverting the paywall man! It's just like Okja, but sexy. (I know some of you are saying "but?" and to you freaks I say g'bless. I mean I remember Jake's Shorts in that movie. Never forget!) Dear lord I came back from lunch today feeling weird. Don't mind me. I am weird today. I think they may have cooked hallucinogens into my pad thai? Anyway hit the jump for these decidedly un-weird photos...

Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

 ... you can learn from:

The Humans (2021)

Erik: It's snowing out there.
Richard: I think someone from a
higher floor just emptied their ashtray.

I hope this movie doesn't end up totally forgotten -- I really loved it but it seemed to entirely slip through the cracks during awards season last year. One of the casualties of late year glut. I say definitely seek it out if you missed it. Anyway a happy birthday to Steven Yeun today!

The former Walking Dead star is turning 39 -- I don't know whether it was his decision to leave TWD or the producers but whoever made it as gross and awful as it was in its moment it ended up being the best decision ever! Because 1) it gave him the freedom to become a movie star, which he's pulled off with great aplomb, and 2) it finally cut the cord with me (and many many other viewers) from that show -- when they killed Glenn I never went back and never missed it for a second. Did any of you stick with it?

Anyway Yeun has several projects lined up after this summer's successful team-up with Jordan Peele and Nope -- the most important one appears to be that he's re-teaming with Okja director Bong Joon-ho for Mickey 17 alongside Robert Pattinson, and I can't believe I hadn't posted that teaser trailer above yet. That's not even out until March of 2024 but listen to the cast -- Yeun and Pattinson and Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo and Naomi Ackie (who's playing Whitney Houston in her biopic out this weekend). It's based on Edward Ashton's sci-fi novel Mickey7 -- wonder why they added ten to the title -- about a clone employee sent to colonize an ice planet. It sounds like Severance meets Edge of Tomorrow

Just Say Nope

I was definitely hoping we'd get at least one more hot Steven Yeun photoshoot before Nope came out this weekend but it looks like we'll have to make due with the two we did get back in June -- check our archives for those. The above photo's an older one, I have probably even posted it before, but fuck it it's lovely and it fits my mood. Because of my week away I am only just seeing Nope tonight but it's an IMAX screening and Jordan Peele will supposedly be there for a Q&A so I win after all. Granted I'm sure it's going to be incredibly crowded and nobody's going to be wearing masks and I am dreading it but so it goes in 2022 I suppose! I'm always an anxious mess now so par meet course. Anyway stay tuned to my 'socials" as the kids call them (all linked in the right-hand column) and maybe you'll see something happen there, Nope-wise. Otherwise have a good weekend and stuff -- no really, I mean it. Sincerity spills out of me like so much gunk.

Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

Okja (2017)

Jay: He still hasn't eaten anything?
Blond: No, he's, uh... still trying to leave the
smallest footprint on the planet that he can.
Silver: All food production is exploitative.
Blond: Try this.
Silver: Mmm-mmm.
Blond: Come on. It's just a tomato.
Silver: Ripened in ethylene gas. Transported in trucks.
Jay: I admire your conviction, Silver,
but your pallid complexion concerns me.

Y'all have picked up your blu-rays of Okja from Criterion already right? It hit disc last week and Amazon has got both the normal edition and the 4K on half-price sale right now so you really have no excuse! I haven't seen this movie since it came out but I've been dying to revisit -- I actually meant to watch my copy of it this past weekend but I somehow got dragged into a bunch of junky Norman J. Warren movies instead for some weird reason. (Terror though was a damn trip!) May Jake forgive me!

Steven Yeun Ten Times

When a couple of weeks back Steven Yuen here did a spread for GQ Korea I predicted that it would make some sense to expect some sexy Steven Yeun shoots saturating our screens this summer, given his presence in one of the year's most anticipated movies with Jordan Peele's Nope. And lo, we have a second shoot! I am the Nostradamus of thirst-trappin! These are for Mr. Porter and you can read the chat with Yeun here. Or if you just wanna stare well then you go on right ahead and you stare after the jump...

Steven Yeun Thirteen Times

One week ago today I shared with you the first three images from Steven Yeun's photo-shoot for GQ Korea -- well I still don't have a proper link to an article with GQ, but I did manage to scrounge up ten more photos! They come via this Tumblr and I don't know where they got the images from -- I think the photos might be making the rounds on the Korean sites but that's beyond my meager googling capabilities. Anyway who cares, these are here, and Steven looks lovely. Seriously -- am I nuts or does he look even younger than ever? Gotta get me some of that Hollywood youth serum stuff. So while we wait for Nope to hit screens in a few weeks let's just sit here and stare at pretty baby-faced Steven after the jump...
