It's hard to believe that The Ronettes really only have this one album (and a couple of singles mostly related to Christmas) considering how big of an impact they made on the world. Their "wall of sound" production is brought to us by Phil Spector, it's so full it just sort of surrounds and swallows one whole... but that's a good thing! Ronnie's lead vocals are the other seriously prominent and impressive trademark, she has a very sweet voice and it's impossible to not love. I've loved "Be My Baby" since I first saw "Dirty Dancing" and that is the only song from this album that I actually knew beforehand. "Walking in the Rain" was a really cool track (I really like the rain storm sounds that occasionally grace the background), and "Do I Love You" has a wonderful melody and great harmonies, both songs hit the charts but weren't hugely popular. "Baby I Love You" and "(The Best Part Of) Breakin' Up" also charted, and both are quite fabulous also I might add. I thought their version of "What'd I Say" was really great as was their version of "Chapel of Love". "How Does It Feel" was so energetic and loveable that I'm surprised it wasn't a big hit for them. I think what is the most surprising is that even the songs on here that were never singles are just as catchy and well assembled as the ones that were. I dare you to find a bad song on here... you can't! (in RateYourMusic)
