The Rosemarys - The Rosemarys
THE ROSEMARYS
The Rosemarys
1994 Fox Records
Notes :
The jangly and echoing guitars on The Rosemarys produce a joyous kaleidoscopic atmosphere, yet, via the lyrics, everything is heartbroken. Songs are devoted to girls ("Dizzy Girl," "Catherine," "Dear Margaret") and thoughts of floating above the clouds ("Spaceman," "Higher"), all of which are deceivingly optimistic thanks to the soft vocals of Tim O. The true uplifting highlights belong to "Sparkle," with backing vocals by Sonya Waters (a deadringer for Kate Bush) and "Spaceman," which grooves with a bouncey bassline. Quite simply, this is prototypical dream pop that will appease most of its adherents.
