KONGA IN SPECTAMATION!

FILM BULLETIN March 20, 1961

American International's 1961 production title of KONGA was obviously influenced by the earlier, classic giant monster film, KING KONG. Starring Michael Gough, it was ballyhooed across the country by producer Herman Cohen.

The FILM BULLETIN carried an ad and a review for KONGA. They also covered Cohen's trip from Hollywood back East and to the Midwest promoting his film.

MICHAEL ROLAND GOUGH (NOVEMBER 23, 1916 – MARCH 17, 2011)

Michael Gough, noted British actor of many films in the the horror genre, including HORRORS IN THE BLACK MUSEUM, BLACK ZOO, KONGA, THE SKULL, and more recently Tim Burton's LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW, died yesterday at the age of 94. In later years, he was called upon to use his distinctive voice for numerous voice over jobs. He is perhaps best known for his role as Alfred the Butler in the Batman film franchise. R.I.P., Mr. Gough.
