WHAT'S THE COST OF A LITTLE FUN?

This installment features a bevy of burlesque/stripper films from back in the day when Tempest Storm, Lili St. Cyr and Betty Page (as she's listed on the poster) were in their glory years. Man, they don't make 'em like that anymore!

A couple other things I'll point out in this bunch along with the usual X-rated fare you've come to expect from this feature:
  • DIARY OF A SINNER's soundtrack is by Bo Diddley.
  • DEVIL IN THE FLESH is promoted as an "educational" film about the perils of venereal disease.
  • Don't miss hidden in the mix with the other Merry Maids of the Gayway, Zaboudah, The Terrific Turkish Torso Twister!
  • The magnificent Virginia Bell gets top billing in SCANTY PANTIES
  • MONDO TOPLESS was a Russ Meyer film with his wife, Eve Meyer as associate producer. It starred Babette Bardot (!), Pat Barringer (aka Pat "Orgy of the Dead" Barrington) and the fabulous Lorna Maitland, who starred in her own film, went off the rails bonkers in the 90s and disappeared without a trace.
And, by the way, a friendly heads up: don't look for any fashion advice if you watch BUNNY YEAGER'S NUDE CAMERA.

CURVES AHEAD: PAT BARRINGTON + BONUS!

I guess you could consider the panty parade of topless dancers in Ed Wood's ORGY OF THE DEAD is the "highlight" of the film, that is, if it had one. They're all attractive, but they all look like they're on Thorazine, if you ask me.

My favorite of the bunch is the fabulous Pat Barrington playing a dual role as a blond and a redhead. Miss Barrington played in one other genre film, THE SATANIST in 1968 (and guess what--she was a dancer in that, too!).

Barrington was also a popular pinup subject, and this pictorial in MAN'S LIFE from May 1969 claims she was the most popular cover girl in England. I always thought Harrison Marks had that market cornered, but maybe she was at the time.

Here's a link to a clip on DAILY MOTION that shows Pat Barrington doing what she did best: a striptease. From THE GIRL WITH THE HUNGRY EYES (1966): https://dai.ly/x7ttijl

BONUS!
A favorite of Ed Wood, the pop culture prognosticator Criswell appeared in ORGY OF THE DEADPLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE and NIGHT OF THE GHOULS. This two-page article from FOR MEN ONLY (September 1968) features excerpts from his book, CRISWELL PREDICTS with his divinations for the year 2000. A word of warning: Don't read these while holding a hot cup of coffee.

ORGY OF THE DEAD PHOTO GALLERY + BONUS!

For those of you who are dyed in the wool fans (or maybe in this case, the flesh), here are a dozen more stills from Ed Wood's ORGY OF THE DEAD. Half of them feature the fabulous Pat Barrington and I particularly like the "cast shot" starting things off. For a nudie cheapie, they certainly promoted the hell out of this.

BONUS!
Ed Wood didn't only make films, he was also a prolific writer who cranked out lurid and pornographic novels and non-fiction books for years. It is estimated he wrote about 100 books and three dozen short stories, the proceeds unfortunately going to fuel his alcoholism. The numbers may not be accurate as he used a number of pseudonyms. Here are some examples of his paperbacks that show his interest and exploitation of the sleazy underbelly of society.
