INSECT FEAR NO. 1

INSECT FEAR
Vol. 1 No. 1
March 1970
The Print Mint
Cover: Spain Rodriguez
Pages: 28
Cover price: 50 cents

You can always be guaranteed a weird read when it comes to underground comics. INSECT FEAR is no exception. Subtitled, "Tales From the Behavioral Sink", this is the first of three issues from The Print Mint in San Francisco.

With stories and art by Robert Crumb, Rory Hayes, Justin Green, Kim Deitch and S. Clay Wilson, you're in for a wild, psychedically-infused journey into the minds of some pretty bizarre creators. The one-pager by Gilbert (Wonder Wart Hog) Shelton parodying Col. Sanders is a hoot.

WARNING!! THE FOLLOWING PAGES MAY BE TOO INTENSE OR OFFENSIVE TO THE OVERLY SENSITIVE!

INSECT TERROR!

This little tidbit of terror is perfect for a quick Spring afternoon's read. A cautionary tale, once again to remind us it's not nice to fool with Mother Nature.

The tale, "Amber Insect", is written by author Benson Dolling and appeared in the Australian variety magazine, CAVALCADE in the August 1951 issue.

The story does contain a couple of passages that might be construed as "sensitive" for those that lean towards the present politically-correct state of mind. I offer the warning unapologetically.
