RARE MOON MONSTER POSTER

Up for auction is this rarity from the pages of comic book advertising. It's unlikely that anyone reading comics in the early 1970's didn't come across the ad to join "The Monster Club". For a mere buck you got quite a bit of stuff including photos, masks and this poster.

What struck me as odd is that there is an obvious difference between this poster and the one from earlier years. Perhaps they sold out of the first one and upgraded it. Any ideas?

Old and new posters side-by-side.

The poster is estimated to bring in $1,000-$2,000.

POP! GOES THE MOON MONSTER

Of all places for an image of the fabled "Moon Monster" comic book ad to show up... a firecracker label! The "supercharged" 1 1/2" "Monster" firecrackers are made in Macau, but also aimed for use in the U.S., as there is a DOT designation.

The Moon Monster itself is a colorful and crisp rendition. It makes one wonder where in the world the artist for this label ever came up with the idea.

MINI MOON MONSTER

This just in from PlasticandPlush.com: "Junk Fed is showing off their latest resin toy - the 5-inch tall Mini Moon Monster. This one will debut at the (In) Action Figures 5 exhibit at Clutter Gallery (running February 11th to March 3rd 2017). The figure is inspired by the Horror Fan Club Giant Moon Monster comic book ads of the 1970s and is limited to a run of 10 pieces for the exhibit premier."

I wouldn't mind one of these little babies. Let's hope that Junk Fed decides on a regular production run after the show. Nicely done, guys!

MOON MONSTER MASK NOW ON SALE!

Hey Monster Kids! The "Moon Monster" made famous in countless comic book ads of yesteryear has just been immortalized as a vacuformed heavy-duty styrene mask from THE DEVIL'S WORKSHOP. Master Mask Maker Pete Infelise's previous comic ad-inspired works have been the Gayle House Ghoul and the Monster Ghost.

The Moon Monster comes painted with blacklite-reflective paint (c'mon, you know you've got one stashed in the closet along with your fog machine!) and it's boxed up with a screened T-shirt and a Devil's Workshop Fang Club card and membership.

What's next from the fevered mind of Mr. Infelise? A Sea Monkey mask? Only time will tell.

So, whaddaya waitin' for? I ordered mine. Now, get on over there and get yours!
