PETE VON SHOLLY'S MONSTER LAFF PARADE

Yes, folks, Mr. Von Sholly has done it again. Fresh off his amazing book of illustrations of famous horror authors and his illustrated Lovecraft books, he's come down off that lofty plateau to indulge in the creation of a set of monster trading cards.

Named Monster Laff Parade, the 18-card set is currently being offered as a perk from the INDIEGOGO crowd funding site. Due to be shipped out in December, the samples shown here are a representative preview of Pete's unusual abilities with art and humor.

UGH! PETE VON SHOLLY'S GOT A KICKSTARTER PROJECT!

I've met Pete Von Sholly a couple of times at MONSTERPALOOZA. The last time was when he was finishing up his "History of Monsters" project. To see these fantastic panels of monster art up close and personal was indeed a treat.

Something else he had was a few copies his comic book series, STORIES TO MAKE YOU SAY UGH!, Sholly's tribute to Warren's CREEPY and other classic horror comics. Mr. Von Sholly gifted me a couple and signed them for me.

Now comes his Kickstarter project that collects all the issues of UGH! into one, giant-sized, 100-page book. There is little over a week left to support his project, so go on over and check it out by clicking HERE. Why not consider giving Pete a kick? I did!

Here's Pete's pitch in his own words:
"What, me kickstarter???

HI! Please take a look at my first kickstarter project and consider donating something to it! I am offering a big 100+ page collection of my comic STORIES TO MAKE YOU SAY UGH! It's horror and humor featuring Lovecraft, monsters and dinosaurs (a few of my favorite things!)

I am hoping to raise only $1600 to cover printing and shipping. I hope you feel it's worth supporting this effort!

With much appreciation, Pete Von Sholly".

DEADTIME STORIES NO. 34

Good evening, monster kiddies! Have you brushed your teeth and ready for bed? Well, before you go, why not spend a few minutes reading this Deadtime story? It's guaranteed to put you in a horror-mood and slither-slime into your brain. It's by the archaic one himself, Al Hewetson, and "It" originally appeared in Skywald's PSYCHO #10 (January 1973). Unpleasant dreams!

MONSTER WORLD NO. 3 (PART 1)

MONSTER WORLD
Vol. 1 No. 3
April, 1965
Warren Publications
Founder & Publisher: James Warren
Editor-in-Chief: Forrest J Ackerman
Way Out Layout: Harry Chester

Special Photography: Walter Daugherty
Editorial Research: G. John Edwards, Stephen Jochsberger
Cover: Ron Cobb

Pages: 68

Behind a fabulous cover by Ron Cobb lurks a lively mix of monster mash. There is an article about Bela Lugosi playing the Frankenstein monster (but it's really only a capsule summary of the plot to FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLFMAN),  a look at Don Post and his many mask creations, a SHE CREATURE filmbook, and giant bug sci-fi flicks. The comic adaptation for this issue is CURSE OF FRANENSTEIN, expertly written and rendered by the extremely talented Russ Jones and Joe Orlando, respectively. Last but not least, check out the "Fang Mail" letters page where the is a missive by none other than MONSTER MAGAZINE WORLD's sometime contributor and artist extraordinaire, Pete Von Sholly!

PETE VON SHOLLY'S 'MURAL OF MONSTERS' IS NOW A BOOK!

Pete Von Sholly's exquisitely rendered and historically important mural of panels collectively entitled, A HISTORY OF MONSTERS is now in book form by Archive Editions. Aptly described as an "unprecedented illustrated pageant", it is now available from the publisher by clicking HERE.

Von Sholly's mastery of monster form and color makes him one of the few artists that could bring this project to the visually stunning success that it is. The combination of Pete's talent and vision continues to offer unique perspectives on this enduring cinematic subject.

MONSTER MAGAZINE WORLD gives PETE VON SHOLLY'S HISTORY OF MONSTERS its highest recommendation.
