M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN: MASTERING THE SUPERNATURAL

After his stunning 1999 release of THE SIXTH SENSE, M. Night Shyamalan has quietly gone about making a string of films that are both singular and provocative. Now, on the cusp of a new movie that concludes his superhero trilogy, Shyamalan discusses his craft in the January 2019 South African edition of FHM magazine. Included is a list of the ingredients that make up the recipe for a typical Shyamalan thriller.

And here's a peek at why men don't always just "read the articles".

INTERNATIONAL MONSTERS: STEPHEN KING AND A LITTLE THAI SPICE

Stephen King figures prominently in the July 2016 issue of the Thai language edition of FHM magazine. He's mentioned on the cover and the 8-page article is feature length. I don't read Thai, so the best I can come up with is that it's an overview of his career and his books.

The added photographs shown below after the King article are no doubt the leading reason that men pick up the magazine in the first place and the articles are just icing on the proverbial cheesecake.

FRIDAY FEMME FATALE

VAMPIRES OVER LATVIA

My translator says the title of this article in the October issue of the Latvian edition of FHM (For Him Magazine) is "Good Vampires = Dead Vampires". The Vampire legend has been alive and well in Europe for centuries, so an article such as this should be seen as no surprise.

From its appearance, it looks to be quite a piece on the history of vampires with a focus on how to effectively dispatch them. The two-page spread shows a photo and description of "Vampiru Mednieka Komplekts" or Vampire Hunter's Kit, complete with mirror, garlic, stake, and a New Testament and Psalms.

This issue of FHM Latvia is made even more intriguing by the addition of a seduction of another sort -- a pictorial of horror hottie "Kristas Kambelas", a.k.a. in English, Christa Campbell, vamping it up. If you care to see more of Christa with a bit less, then check back here at midnight tonight . . .

INTL 'ZINES: FHM'S PINOY HORROR DEATH MATCH

Like any other country, the Philippines has their own cast of resident mythological creatures and supernatural beings. The bestiary is comprised of the usual suspects: ghouls, vampires, were-creatures, and zombies, all generally evil and hungry for your flesh.

This month's FHM magazine Philippines edition takes a stab (heh! heh!) at pitting one aswang (that's Pinoy for ghoul-like or vampire-like creature) against another in a giant monster throw-down.

And last, but not definitely least, is another mythological creature -- The Elusive and Unobtainable 2-Dimensional Pin-Up Girl. This particular devilish species is named Chiaka Morita. She is also featured in this month's Philippines edition of FHM.
