MESSAGES FROM THE DARK SIDE

Journalist Steve Green has shared two more articles he wrote a while back for THE DARK SIDE, a leading horror mag in England. First is an in-depth profile of the lovely Hammer Glamour actress Jenny Hanley, who starred in SCARS OF DRACULA (1970). Then he gives his opinion in a DVD review of Peter Straub's film adaptation of GHOST STORY.

MONSTERS UNLEASHED: THE DARK SIDE NO. 207

In my opinion, the UK's THE DARK SIDE continues to be the best pro monster magazine on the stands. Editor/Publisher Allan Bryce resurrected the title a few years ago after a bit of a hiatus. It was worth the wait. Top notch articles by well-known and respected leaders in the field of cinema horror history packed with attractive graphics (Rick Melton's cousin Suzi aside!) make for a must-have publication. Here's the dish on the latest issue:

If you’re a sucker for lesbian vampires then you can fill your boots with this extremely salacious issue of the world’s best-selling horror magazine. THE DARK SIDE'S 200TH ISSUE!

Alan Bryce's THE DARK SIDE has taken up the mantle as being the longest running, regularly published monster mag in existence. Despite its $9.99 price tag, it is one of the few monster 'zines that I continue to purchase on a regular basis. Great layouts, production and graphics written by top authors and researchers has re-infused its contents into a top-notch magazine. Now on the stands is the monumental, 200th issue. At 100 pages, it's a steal. I bought mine at a Barnes & Noble brick and mortar store. Highly recommended!

INTERNATIONAL 'ZINES: THE DARK SIDE NO. 156

For a few issues now, the newly-resurrected UK horror film magazine, THE DARK SIDE, has been quietly being published abroad. So far, I have not seen any indication of its distribution here in the States. It is hoped that this is remedied soon. THE DARK SIDE RETURNS

Returning to publication after a multiple year hiatus is the British monster 'zine, THE DARK SIDE. Noted for its dense content and lurid graphics, a handful of issues have been thus far released, albeit a little quietly. I have seen no copies on magazine stands here thus far. I do not know as yet who is running the show or if they even have plans to distribute in the U.S. like they did before. Judging by the excellent covers, however, it looks like THE DARK SIDE is back, and hasn't missed a beat.
