RICHARD CORBEN INTERVIEW

Richard Corben is one of the most recognizable names in comics. His airbrush work, his meticulous color separations, and of course, his voluptuous women were a highlight of every publication that wisely chose to print his stories. This in-depth interview conducted by respected journalist/photographer Brad Balfour ran for two issues in HEAVY METAL (July 1981 - August 1981) and coincided with the release of the HEAVY METAL animated film.

EXTRA! An excerpt from Corben's "Bloodstar", an adaptation based on Robert E. Howard's often-reprinted "The Valley of the Worm" (WEIRD TALES, February 1934). It was published as what is generally recognized as the first "self-described" graphic novel in 1976 by The Morning Star Press. John "Brak the Barbarian" Jakes collaborated with Corben on this post-apocalyptic sword and sorcery story with Gil Kane editing.
