HOW TO SURVIVE A BLIZZARD
They say it's a cold, cruel world out there, and getting caught in a winter blizzard is a literal example. While no claim is made for effectiveness in every situation, this article from RECOIL OFFGRID (February, 2022) will give you some pointers about staying alive in cold weather if you're caught in the middle of nowhere in a cabin or lodge and the power goes out.
President Ronald Reagan is famous for his saying: "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help'". This book review from the same issue tells of how the U.S. government has planned, since the early days of the Cold War, emergency shelters for the "high-command" to bug out to in the case of a nationwide catastrophe, such as from a nuclear strike or a natural, wide-spread disaster. That, of course, leaves us poor souls on our own. The question begs, what will the government do if there's no one left to govern? Do you need a better reason to prep your household for the worst? Have a nice day!
