NOSFERATU PHOTOSHOOT

The 1922 silent film, NOSFERATU, is widely recognized as the lodestone for vampire films, and its influence on horror films in general is inestimable. Now, a century later artists and creators are still inspired by its iconic imagery.

In issue #14 (2019) of the UK 'zine, PHOTOSHOOT, the talented Rick Jones set up this fangtastic shoot as the photographer, makeup artist, as well as setting up the lighting and editing. The Count Orlok makeup is outstanding and in this case the model is a woman! Sara Cridlan enduring the bald head wig and greasepaint for her role in the scenario. Claire Jones posed as "the victim".

If you're interested in trying this yourself, following is a "how-to" on setting up your own photo studio from PHOTOSHOOT (April, 2020).

PHOTOGRAPHING HORROR

A most unusual, and I dare say, creepy set of images here from PHOTOSHOOT magazine (April, 2020). The photos are by Rick Jones and the model is popularly known as "Pure Horror". Mr. Jones is a part of the folks who run the website, "Horrify Me", and indeed they do. Located in Kent, UK, the studio will transform you (for a fee) into any monster or creature that you like and then provide a photo session. Some very imaginative makeup and nicely lit photography.

PHOTOGRAPHING VAMPIRES

In the hands of a talented and creative person, can photographing monsters be considered fine art? Well, probably not to those stuffy-nosed, opinionated critics that would have you believing otherwise. While not recognized nor accepted in the field as many other subjects, monsters have an artistic quality all their own, especially when it comes to vampires.

Photographer Rick Jones of Horrify Me Studios has set out to produce monster photos that are wall-worthy. In this special black and white issue of PHOTOSHOOT (June 2019) are depicted a pair of models that exemplify the artistic side of the female vampire.

BONUS! On a, shall we say, less refined subject, here is a photoshoot of zombies from the same issue.
