JERRY LEWIS MEETS THE MONSTERS

Abbott and Costello weren't the only the comedians who spoofed the Universal monsters-- Jerry Lewis had is fun with them, too.

Originally seen in DC's THE ADVENTURES OF JERRY LEWIS #83 (July-August 1964), "Scared Silly" was reprinted in the October-November 1970 issue of SUPER DC GIANT. Written by Arnold Drake and art by Bob Oskner, I think the comedy romp is a hoot.

FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND is mentioned in the story and Forry printed the segment into FM #29 (July 1964).

ECHH! FRANKENSTEIN IN THE FUNNY BOOKS

It is said that those things that can be made into parody have a good chance of longevity. No better example can be made than with the Frankenstein monster.

Here he is is in a humorous strip from Marvel's NOT BRAND ECHH (#12, February 1969). The cover is by Marie Severin and the story, "Frankenstein Sicksty-Nine!", is written by Arnold Drake and drawn by Tom Sutton.

GRIMM'S GHOST STORIES NO. 1 (GOLD KEY)

Are you in the mood for some good 'ol fashioned ghost stories? Well, I am, and here's a haunting helping from the folks at Gold Key who put together a pretty impressive 60-issue run of GRIMM'S GHOST STORIES.

And, what's a horror comic without a horror host? This time, we are introduced to Hephzibah Grimm, with an illustration by the great comic art veteran, John Celardo. Written and drawn by GK mainstays Arnold "Deadman" Drake, Don Arneson, Joe Certa and others, this is a pretty good looking comic.

Enjoy the Sunday scares!
