“I’m Looking Through You”, written in the most part by Paul McCartney is one of the finest songs on Rubber Soul, as it contains a typically ingenuous melody and a rather insightful lyric, and a wonderfully bizarre organ part. One of McCartney’s most mature lyrics of the period, he sings “I’m looking through you/Where did you go?/I thought I knew you/What did I know/You don’t look different but you have changed/I’m looking through you, you’re not the same”. The song also contains a wonderfully friendly melody and some great singing, especially McCartney’s lead vocal. One of the minor gems of The Beatles canon."

"In Barry Miles’ Many Years from Now, McCartney explains that he composed the song while on vacation in Tunisia. He wrote the lyrics and music in the bathroom of a private villa, due to its optimal acoustics. “Another Girl” was not released as a single, but McCartney resisted calling it merely album “filler.” “I think they were a bit more than that, and each one of them made it past the Beatles test,” McCartney told Miles. “We all had to like it. If anyone didn’t like one of our songs it was vetoed. It could be vetoed by one person. If Ringo said, ‘I don’t like that one,’ we wouldn’t do it — or we’d have to really persuade him.”

"The Beatles played "Ticket to Ride" throughout their June–July 1965 European tour. A live performance from the 1 August 1965 broadcast of Blackpool Night Out was included on the Anthology 2 compilation and shown during The Beatles Anthology documentary. On 14 August, the group recorded a live performance of the song for The Ed Sullivan Show, broadcast the following month. "Ticket to Ride" was also included in the set list for the Beatles' 1965 US tour and their UK tour at the end of the year. "We Can Work It Out" is a comparatively rare example of a Lennon–McCartney collaboration from this period in the Beatles' career, in that the two songwriters worked together as they had when writing the group's early hit singles of 1963.
