From MattT - Space Wolves Berserkers - 50 points
For this post I have returned to my fledgling Space Wolves army and painted up 10 Berserker's, sorry Blood Claws for Kharn to lead. Ive gone for rule of cool over WYSIWYG and thrown the kitchen sink at these, including kit bashed bits from other sets to make them look more chaos. Painting wise I have used some new techniques including sponge chipping on the armour, enamel washes and blood effects etc.
I'm not 100% happy with the snow bases, think I over did it a bit. I may revisit them at some point, but for now they are done.
10 x 28mm mini = 50 points
From DaveD . Space Wolves the only ones I ever had for GW stuff. Nice to see your creation, Also an interesting blend of techniques - I am a fan of enamel washed etc . I like the snow . 50 it is

From AaronH - Iden Versio and two Orc APCs (17 points)
This week I'm finally getting some painting done after travelling for the last two months. I have Iden Versio in 32mm and two Marauder (Orc) APCs in 10mm.
I painted Iden up for my friend's son so he could use her in a tournament last weekend. She was a quick paint, being mostly black.
I just dry brushed a couple of different grey's over the black undercoat. Her face took the most time.
I had already painted her droid so it's not included here. I still need to paint the other members of Inferno Squad, which may happen this Challenge.
The trucks look like she's playing with Tonka trucks.
The two APCs are Mules, the ubiquitous transport in Mantic's Warpath universe, being in at least three armies.
I have six of these. I'll be doing two each in yellow, blue and red.
They are quick and easy to paint up. I used acrylic paint pens to do most of what you see.
I'm not sure why this is Mantic's vision for an APC but horses for courses I guess.
This is one 32mm figure for 5 points
Two 10mm vehicles for 6 pts each = 12
Total = 17 pts
Nice work here Aaron, I was unfamiliar with Ms. Versio so you sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole there. A pretty intense character, she was the leader of an Imperial black ops unit called "Inferno Squad" (!) and holder of the Imperial record for most verified kills in battle (!!) (I thought surely this would've been the Death Star gunner who pulled the trigger on Alderaan??) before she defected to the Rebellion. You've done a great job on her, especially the face... the sculpt is great too, it really looks like the actress who played her.
Seventeen for your tally!

From Paul O'G: Lunar Supply lander (15 points)
I've got a brief window at home before my next work trip - just enough time to complete this remote Lunar vehicle, to go with the Astronauts I submitted as the second Bonus Round entry.
Technically this lander is named the "KANGA-R.0.0" (love it!). It's perfect as an objective for games of LUNAR, where it will deliver key supplies (like air bottles and suit repair patches) for the moon walkers to fight over. This is resin print and was a special release model by Black Site Studio for Adepticon 2025.
Its a 32mm scaled vehicle but a small one so, so I think it appropriate to downgrade and classify it as "artillery/crew served weapon" for 15 points (instead of 25).
============
Sylvain: A simple lunar vehicle, but your color scheme is so evocative of the glorious days of space exploration. And your moon surface for the base is spot on. I wish you fun games with this "objective". Fabuleux!

From MattT, Wallachian Voynuks (35 points)
This week sees me pressing on with my Ottoman project that should keep my brother happy. I have completed a base of Voynuk infantry. Figures are a bit of a mixed bag with a couple of head swaps thrown in. I have painted them blue for no other reason than that's what Angus McBride painted them in. I think most of us will have made painting choices based of his illustrations. Those early Osprey books have been essential reading over the years.

From Millsy: Star Wars Legion Bits & Bobs (35 points)
Hi All,
A couple of quick ones today, cleaning up some leftover stuff while I continue plugging away at the Late Romans. This time is it some Star Wars Legion minis, including a Scout so well hidden he was missed in my last post for these chaps.
- 3 x infantry
- 2 x gonk droids
- 1 x crew served weapon
Thanks for looking!
Cheers,
Millsy

Another quite brief post, but with some really excellent work - just great stuff Millsy. I too love the "Star Wars Legion" models (if not the rules), and I think your white armour in particular really turns out nicely. That is always the trickiest part of the Imperial troops, but you have really nailed it here.
I also think you have done a great job here fitting the "winter" troopers in to an arid-terrain base. Between the groundwork, and the tan coloured cloth/canvas on the face plate, you have totally nailed it. Great job.
35 points for you - and wow, those Romans are going to be amazing!

From MattT: Trench Pilgrims, 55 points
For my first post of the challenge I have completed some Trench Pilgrims for Trench Crusade. I had a lot of fun kit bashing these in the summer. So much so that I have made way more than I will ever need for the game. The silly helmets and some other bits are 3D printed, the majority of the body's are from Wargames Atlantic WW1 French Infantry sprue and some odd bits and bobs from other sprues.
They have been sat on my painting desk for several months now and the challenge has given me the impetus to get them painted. I bought a horizon blue paint especially for them, but I've given them several washes to give them that grimy look and based them on a reddish brown base to represent the hellscape they are fighting on.

From Millsy: Star Wars Legion Empire (225 points)
G'day All,
Another batch of Star Wars Legion hot off the painting desk - this time it's the Imps.
Scout Bikes, Scout Troopers and a Skiff
That sounds like the start of some sort of weird Star Wars joke - Scout Bikes, Scout Troopers and a Skiff walk into a Mos Eisley cantina.... I've already got some scouts in my collection so I've added a red unit insignia to help me distinguish the two sets of units on the table. I'm bulking out a lot of my existing stuff so I can play larger games using a community mod of Bolt Action.
The Scouts are time consuming to paint, navigating around the white to paint the black under suit, but they look pretty sharp when done.
Stormtroopers and Transport
These fellas were picked up super cheap at MOAB to also bulk out my forces. I have something like 40 of the buggers now so there's plenty of chaff to get mowed down in various futile endeavours. Such is the life of a faceless, nameless mook in the service of the Empire! At least these guys get to ride to their inevitable demise courtesy of a 3D printed troop transport.
Inferno Squad
I really enjoyed painting these guys. Several different treatments for black to give them some variation isn't as obvious in the photos as I'd like but they look cool enough IRL so I'm happy with that.
Points total
- 2 x 32mm Scout bikes + riders = 50 points
- 6 x 32mm Scouts + Skiff = 50 points
- 14 x 32mm Stormtroopers + Transport = 90 points
- 7 x 32mm Inferno Squad = 35 points
I think that'll be it for the Star Wars Legion for a while, although I do have a pile of Rebels to do and also a collection of 3D printed characters from The Mandalorian which I am saving as a special treat to reward myself at some point.
Thanks for looking!
Cheers,
Millsy

Said no Stormtrooper. Ever.
:)
Terrific work on these Imperials, Millsy! Even though the bikes may be a bit of a challenge, you've certainly made then look spiffy under your deft brush. They look keen and ready to fly into the side of a cantina or Bantha. Of course, the Inferno Squad looks much more efficient, ominous and chilling with their black uniform and gear (lovely contrast on the blacks btw). I also like the printed troop transport, though I wonder if they draw straws to be the poor buggers slung outside. Such is the life of an Imperial Trooper, I suppose!
Lovely work! I look forward to seeing what you shift gears to.

AaronH - Imperial Storm Troopers (60 Points)
This year I'm going to try to get through my nemesis, Storm Troopers. I've been collecting Star Wars Legion since it came out, six or seven years ago. I've painted a fair few models for it but I've always been intimidated by the Storm Troopers (and Scouts and Snows). As an aside, I only play this game with painted models. It forces me to paint up models I want to use. So no Empire up to now.
The tray of potential, waiting for the Challenge start. This is approximately 135 war dollies.
I assembled and primed everything and laid it out to be ready for the Challenge. I've found other bits since this picture and added them to the tray.
Storm Trooper wash on the left. Fresh off the factory on the right.
I started with a flat white prime. I then cleaned up the spots I did a bad job of priming with more white. I then hit these guys in a batch manner. 12 models. 12 sets of lenses, then 12 lines above the lenses, then 12 mouth snouts, then 12 weapons. I had to do the black undersuits one at a time since every model is different. I then dry brushed gun metal on the guns and put some sombre grey on the high points of the black. I touched up everything with another bit if white and then everyone got washed in storm trooper wash. As you can see in the picture above it knocks back the white, emphasizes the details and makes the armor look more lived in. I really like the affect.
The 12 man unit. I have 3 heavy weapons in here, as well as the optional five man upgrade.
The back shot.
And now the closer ones in focus.

Welcome back to the Challenge, Aaron!
It looks like you have a veritable battalion of Stormtroopers ahead of you, and what better way to work through them than the Challenge! I quite like the final result that you've achieved, with these looking like hard campaigners with little time to keep their armour white and shiny. Question: What do you use for your 'Stormtrooper Wash'? I'm sure there are a few of us that would be keen to compare notes. :)
This large squad of 12 will give you 60 points for your climb up the points ladder. Well done!

From RhysH - Abyssal Dwarfs and Taun Taun Riders
This week Rhys was working on cavalry for two different games. His first entry is Abyssal Dwarf Halfbreeds from Mantic Games for Kings of War.
Five devastating cavalry for your fantasy table tops.
Next up is four more. Rhys tried to slide a half painted one past me but I pulled it out, so expect to see it next week.
These tiger striped halfbreeds can either fill out the first unit or be a second unit.
Last up is three Taun taun riders for the Rebels in Star Wars Legion. These are 3D prints from Squamous miniatures, who I can't recommend highly enough.
These come in units of two. He has three more to paint to finish them all up.
This week is a total of 12 x 28mm Cavalry x 10pts = 120pts
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good Morning Rhys
Great looking Taun Taun riders ... they would have been right at home in Saskatchewan last week! Surviving -50C is only for the very appropriatly dressed!
Terrific colour choices on the tiger striped Half Breeds. I'm looking forward to what we see on your next post :)
