From BobV: 18mm Napoleonic French and Bavarians and an entry for Sarah's Library Cart (240 points)

 Hello all!

I had thought upon retirement that my days of large collections of unpainted miniatures would soon be over. Alas, after three years without a full-time career, I can confirm that freedom without structure is just as great an enemy of progress as trudging off to the office every day. It's funny how many hobby-related tasks you can do without actually sitting down at the painting table. On the bright side, my reference library has never looked better, but at least a Division's worth of Napoleonic's still need to be painted.

I therefore decided to join the Challenge and set some real deadlines to complete my long-delayed project. So far, so good.

What you see below are four small battalions (sorry KenR) of 18mm French and Bavarians from AB Miniatures. The flags are from Fighting 15's.

There are two battalions of French Légère, one battalion of Bavarian Leichtes and one battalion of Bavarian Line. I have also included a Bavarian Brigadier in the Leichtes green uniform. I make no claim as to any specific regiment as I find uniform specifics too tricky to master and I prefer to paint what I think looks good. The troops never complain.

The Bavarians are brand new (thanks Eureka Miniatures USA) so I am claiming them as New Acquisitions in the Library. I have also included a newly painted figure of indeterminate origin to claim Sarah's Library Cart. I believe she may be a freebie I picked up from Footsore Miniatures somewhere along the way. In any event, I refer to her as Lady Penelope.

I am claiming the following points:

96 x 15mm foot @2 points = 192 points

1 x 15mm mounted @ four points = 4 points

20 points for New Acquistions = 20 points

20 points for lady Sarah's Book Cart = 20 points

Total = 236 points

Sylvain: To me, there is definitely a quality to quantity and I really like the overall look of your Napoleonic troops on the tabletop. Beyond the quantity, the quality of your brushwork is impeccable. I will add 4 points for the numerous flags to boost up your tally to 240. Vive l'Empereur!

If you could provide a map of the Analogueville Library showing your progress, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

(From RossM) Various scales and periods including Ancients, Crusaders and Seven Years War 15mm & 28mm (127 points)

The second post for the early hours and this is a mixed bag of periods and scales.

Bavarian Seven Years War Artillery: 18mm Eureka Miniatures

24 Points

Arab Naffatun Skirmishers: 15mm Museum Miniatures

12 points

Early Imperial Romans: 15mm PSC Auxiliaries

There are 17 of the new Ultra Cast figures here and 1 from Corvus Belli, don't ask which is the one though. Shield transfers from VVV.

36 points

Crusaders: 28mm Gripping Beast

These are the other eleven figures to make a unit in Lion Rampant and support the two handed sword wielding knight from the Pit and the Pendulum

Kept the colours here simple and bold. The shield transfers are from Little Big Men and have been overpainted to match the tabards.

Have always liked the idea of painted helms and went with that. Not sure if its historical or artistic licence however, they look good in a mixed group.

Here is the full unit with the Pendulum in full swing

55 points

Sub total for this post is 127 taking the running total to 309 points (52% completed to date)

Stay safe and thanks for looking

From GregB: Some 10mm FPW Bavarians (50 Points)

10mm Bavarians for the Franco-Prussian War. Figures from Pendraken.
I hope Nick enjoys this one!

I had big plans to finish AHPC X with a bang, some big-time entries that would score points and demonstrate how much fun I have sharing my painting with this group.  Alas, world events have not cooperated.  I've barely been able to Minion properly, much less paint anything this week.  So I'll settle for cramming this one small submission in for a final dose of points.  These are 10mm Bavarians for the Franco-Prussian War.  The figures (and flag) are all from the excellent Pendraken.

Infantry in cornflower blue tunics. You can't miss the Bavarians!
When war broke out between France and Prussia in the summer of 1870, the Kingdom of Bavaria sent a major contingent to join the forces of Prussia and the North German Confederation.  From the initial battle at Wissembourg through the seige of Paris and many battles against the stubborn French Republican regime which replaced the fallen government of Napoleon III, the Bavarians played a major role in the Franco-Prussian War.

Command group in the middle...depending on the system, each base could represent one battalion from the regiment...or the three bases together could represent one battalion...all depends on the rules.
Wissembourg is a particular scenario I want to start with (before moving on to the larger battles in the period) and a division (and more) of Bavarians were part of that engagement. These figures are meant to be part of that scenario, representing a regiment of infantry and a regiment of cheveauxleger cavalry.  There are two individually-based mounted officers as well to represent relevant layers of command, depending on the rules system being used.

Chevauxlegers - Bavarian "light" cavalry.
I do hope Nick is able to see these - I was thinking of him as I set about painting these fellows! He has been an enthusiastic supporter of my Franco-Prussian War project, and also patiently encouraging me to add some Bavarian content...so here we are!

Again, these could represent one regiment, two regiments...it all depends on the rules being used.

Scoring purposes - we have 30 x 10mm infantry, and 10 x 10mm cavalry, which I think nets 50 points.

Mounted officers to serve as command markers.
This will be my last post for AHPC X. Many, many thanks to all participants.  Your comments and content really helped to inspire my hobby efforts.  I also want to thank my fellow minions for their help. I want to particularly recognize Tamsin - not only is she a great painter, but a stalwart minion, posting something like 700 posts this week alone (I can't count, that's why we have Miles).  I also want to acknowledge Miles' great contribution, made while facing some difficulties in the real world.

And of course I salute my great friend Curt - thanks again dude, this has been so much fun. I'm so sorry our visit got cut short this winter, and I hope we can get together again soon.

Happy painting and gaming to all.  Be safe and healthy, my best wishes to you all. It's been truly fun. Cheers.

These Bavarians are fabulous Greg. As you've commented many time, these 10mm castings from Pendraken are the bomb, especially when they benefit from a skilled brushmeister such as your good self. I'm particularly amazed at your work on the chevauxleger cavalry. Wow. That is very impressive. I very much look forward to seeing these close up and perhaps getting a game in soon.

Greg, thanks for all your help during the Challenge. Your Monday minioning was absolutely terrific, and I know that all your considered and kind comments were very much appreciated by those who posted on your day. See you soon, mon ami!

From VictorC: 28mm Bavarian Infantry (160 points)

Just finished up 32 Napoleonic Bavarian Infantry.  They are plastics from HaT. I haven't based them permanently because I will be mailing them to a friend and I'm not sure how they should based and I don't want them to break during shipping.

He doesn't know they are even showing up. I hope he likes them.

Here are the photos.

Wow, these will be a very nice surprise for your friend, Victor. Beautiful work. I didn't know that HaT did 28mm Napoleonics - they look like quite nice sculpts from the pictures. I've always had a soft spot for the great blue uniform and whacky combed Bavarian helmet.

These fellows will put you over twice your initial points target, well done Victor!
