From DaveD -15mm French Battlegroup additions 7DTTR - (142 points )

This week it is back to the last of the 15mm French Battlegroup. This time is the additional infantry and various transport options. Everything is by Battlefront from the "Team Yankee" ranges.

Infantry platoon:

Wheeled transport VAB Véhicule de l'Avant Blindé

All vehicles airbrushed with a standard NATO 3-colour scheme, tracks, wheels in VJ black grey followed by a dark brown oil wash and pick out highlights.

Next AMX10P Tracked APC with 20mm auto cannon.

There are the odd decal on these, it is though something I miss on “moderns".

That completes my full Battlegroup. All completed during challenges 14 and 16.

Points :-

10 x 15mm vehicles = 80

Infantry x 29= 58 , crew 4 =4 , total 62

Total 142

Great work Dave - it is particularly lovely to see the entire force together at the conclusion of the post. They look ready to take on all opponents in some lovely Cold-War-Gone-Hot tabletop mayhem.

Another whopping 142 points - well-earned.

From DaveD - French 1990s tanks , and Winter PzIV’s - (132 points)

Time for something different this week - time for some tanks . First a top up for my French battle group for the Cold War-gone-hot era. We have been using "7 Days to the River Rhine" and my paper tiger French have done really well. Lots of big guns to shoot WARPAC attackers. They have a tendency to die if hit themselves , but as there are usually a lot of them it’s worked so for. However time for some serious armour with some nice big nasty AMX56’s “Leclerc”.

I have also added 3 AMX13s with 37mm AA. In 7-Days terms these are really painful counting as autocannons. They will turn Soviet air support into colanders and also chew up attacking infantry.

All are all Battlefront  kits with a standard NATO 3 colour camo scheme via the airbrush, oil pin wash and bit of highlight, add some fishing line aerials and  job done.

I managed to finish two late additions last night. A pair of Gazelle helicopters armed with Autocannons .

Joining with their other friends with HOT missiles

Next is a return to the WW2 winter table with a top up of Panzer IV’s for the 15mm set up.

These were part of a late friends pile of potential that were part built . So I have finished them off and given them a simple paint job.

I used my new paint pens to do a simple camo after a dark yellow rattle can base coat / and then applied a light winter whitewash  paint . Then it’s add the winter gel.

Points :-

16 15mm vehicles = 128pts

4 commanders = 4

Total 132

Very nice work as usual Dave. The French 1990s kit is lovely, and I have to join you in singing the praises of "Seven Days To The River Rhine" - it is a tremendously fun set of rules to play. These French AFVs will do sterling work confronting the rolling steel tides of the Warsaw Pact!

Who makes those AFVs? They looked to me like they might be the awful castings from Forged in Battle...if so, I salute your efforts, because they turned out very nicely.

That's 132 points for you!

From DaveD - T64’s for 7 Days to the Rhine - 40 pts

I have all manner of stuff on the paint desk part way through , and this is the first unit completed . 5 T64’s for my Group of Soviet Forces to race to the river Rhine. They will be helping crushing capitalist Ian’s BAOR in our upcoming campaign game. I have a few more units to add to my Soviets in due course.

A simple rattle can paint job with oil washes and highlights . The kits are Battlefront for Team Yankee , they are a simple build and went together easily.

Aerials are made from fishing line - always like to add a bit extra detail on 15s

5 x 15mm Vehicle = 40pts

Moderns duel - 40 pts

Thanks Dave - these Battlefront models sure look lovely, and as you say, some quick work, especially when one cheats using oils, is sufficient to get an excellent-looking result. "Seven Days To The River Rhine" is indeed a fantastic set of rules (if I inferred correctly from the title of your post that you are planning to use them?). Good luck with your project - all Challenge veterans have come to expect your tremendous progress on these projects, very nice.

From DaveD - The start of the Soviets 7DTTR (75 pts)

Back to yet more green stuff . This time sees the arrival of some first class Soviets forces . A unit of T64’s , BMP2’s and two Shilka’s for air defence. 12th Guards Tank Division here we come .

Nothing overly complicated about these lads , just a nice simple Tamiya rattle can , some washes , decals and highlighting does the job .

This sees the last of these lads for the this challenge I think.

I also picked up some resin 3D printed power pylons to add to the terrain stash . They are around 5 inches tall by 1.5 . So I am going for 3 points for  those

15mm vehicle 9 x 8 = 72 points toward Never Ending Cold War

Terrain 3 points

Total -75

Not a bad start to your Russian forces, Dave! Between all of your projects so far, is there any green paint left in the UK for the rest of us?

From DaveD: East Germans & French - Cold War Gone Hot - 7DTTR (293 Points)

Right back to normality from doing silly butterfly things. Having completed the French armoured force its time for some WARPAC opposition. So sticking with our smaller nations theme here is the East German Force -a classic motor rifle company and a T55 unit (no points for the T55 though as they were already painted - just needed basing)

All 15mm

BTR60s

5 vehicles , 1 command

A mix of infantry , LMG and RPG stands

77 infantry .

For force completeness here is  the armoured element of  the force 12 x T55’s - non point scoring as I have only got around to the basing while I was doing the other stuff. I pick these up ready painted from a guy in Poland last year and they are very nice.

To round out the previous completed French armoured group I have now finished a French infantry platoon and extra  Milan teams . There is another to complete at some point .

49 infantry.

So grand total:-
5 vehicles = 40 points
Vehicle crew 1 = 1pt
Infantry 126 = 252
Total = 293

So the  points take me over target with just over a month to go  Huzzah! .
And 293 to the Never Ending Cold War side dual  - feel my fire!

That’s it for this project for now until we get a game in to work out what we need next I think .Well they may be a few tanks in the production line - we will see .

Now it’s time to return to Nam!  There is some good stuff in the wings and I want to break the back of this project by the end of challenge .

Excellent work, Dave! Good to see the French and DDR get some attention!
