From RafaelO: More Napoleonic French and some Warmaster bonus (193 points)

Hello everyone!

Two more weeks of hobby progress and some fresh units added to my army. Last week I managed to paint quite a lot, but… I completely forgot to write the post. Yes, yes, I know — I deserve some kind of punishment for that 😅. This week, however, I not only finished a few more units but also remembered to actually write the post! Hurrah!

Let’s start with some heavy cavalry. First up is part of my French Cuirassier Cavalry for the Heavy Cavalry Division. I painted eight figures, mounted on four bases, so I can field them as one or two units depending on the ruleset.

Next, we have some Polish Lancers of the Imperial Guard for my Imperial Guard Cavalry Division. Same story here: eight models on four bases and a commander, ready for flexible deployment on the tabletop.

Now it’s time for the infantry. This week I managed to complete four bases of Fusiliers-Grenadiers from the Middle Imperial Guard.

And finally… something a bit different. I wrapped things up by finishing a Warmaster unit: a unit of Terradons for my army.

In summary

3 x 10 mm Mounted figure @ 3 points = 9 points.

17 x 20mm Mounted model @ 8 points = 136 points.

12 x 20mm Infantry model @ 4 points = 48 points.

Total 193 points.

More updates next week — hopefully without forgetting the blog post next time!

Rafa

Oh man Rafa, now I do not know which figures to like best they are all sooooo well painted! I have always had a soft spot for the Zvezda French Cavalry and have plenty of both the lancers and Cuirassiers to paint still, but your level of quality is omething different all together. That said I do think those bright oranges you chose for the Terradons really win me over for those as pick of the litter awesome entry indeed!

From RafaelO: Warmaster Lizardmen. The rise of a new Army - [75 points]

Greetings again from Spain. I couldn't post anything last week because we're currently in the middle of university exams here in Spain, and I've been grading more than I'd like.

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who voted for my entry in the Bonus Theme Empire. Congratulations to the other participants, because all the entries were excellent.

This year I had planned to paint mainly French units for my Napoleonic army, but... my brother changed those plans, at least partially. He recently bought a Warmaster Dwarf army, and since I still had my Lizardmen armies in their bags... I had no choice but to start working on them.

So far, I've managed to paint, in the last two weeks (I couldn't post last week), a unit of Saurus, a unit of Skinks, and a unit of Kroxigors.

First, I'll show you the big ones: the Kroxigors.

The second unit I painted was the Saurus.

The third was the Skinks, for which I changed the metallic tones to make them even more distinctive.

Finally, I've managed to paint a colonel on horseback for my old guard.

As always, I followed my preferred painting style: White Primer, Xpress paint, Contrast, metallics, washes, and then highlights.

In summary

9 x 10 mm Infantry models Kroxigors @1 points = 9 points.

30 x 10mm Infantry model Saurus @1 points = 30 points.

24 x 10mm Infantry model Skinks @1 points = 24 points.

1 x 20mm Mounted model @8 points = 8 points.

Total 71 points.

I've rated the Kroxigors as 10mm models even though they're actually 15mm in comparison, but the skinks are smaller so...

Cheers Rafa

Why Rafa, you are a fellow teacher as well!? Oh do we know how bad grading is for the available hobby time indeed! I have just finished a large amount of correctionwork myself and am currently onto painting again but nothing so fancy as your stuff shown here! That Old Guard officer is just so incredibly well detailed and crisp and the Lizardmen are very vibrant too. As you correctly pointed out the points on these lizardmen are a bit hard to establish well so I am granting you 4 bonus points in order to get a more rounded out 75 points on these excellent small lizards.

Cheers Sander

From RafaelO: French Light Infantry and German Mortar 20mm (60 points)

This new year I want to complete a new French Infantry Corps for my napoleonic games, currently playing Bataille Empire in 20mm. So, begining with the 1st Division I painted a French Light Infantry Battalion (4 bases - 12 miniatures) represented by the carabiniers company. Carabiniers were the equivalent to Grenadiers on regular infantry battalions.

I painted them using almost exclusively Vallejo Xpress paints, Contrast, and some traditional paints for highlights.

My other project, started last year, is based on the Ardennes in 1944/1945 and the last German offensive on the Western Front.

In this case, I've finished a mortar team and its observer for Bolt Action or Chain of Command.

In summary

12 x 20 mm Infantry models @ 4 points = 48 points.

1 x 20mm Infantry model @ 4 points = 4 points.

1 x 20mm crew-served weapon @ 8 points = 8 points.

Total 60 points.

Cheers,

Rafa

That is one awesome levell of painting Rafa! Both the crispness and saturation on these miniatures are brilliant. Are the French Napoleonics HäT figures? And do I recognize some ESCI ERTL figures among the Germans?
