From: PaulS : Final, final entry. No really. (65 Points)

Earlier on I did what I thought was going to be the last update of the Challenge. How wrong I was!

This afternoon I managed to settle down and get into the swing of things (where has this been over the last three weeks!) and managed to complete another rather large batch of things. Earlier I posted the armoured support for my Commandos. This time I've got some support for my German forces in the shape of a SdKfz 251/10 and a Tiger I. The figures are just for a sense of action and excitement. Both are Warlord's plastic kits and were really nice to put together. The SdKfz was part of the same kit that spawned the mortar team earlier in the challenge. When offered the choice of a standard 251/10, or a mortar carrying 251/10 kit for the same price, why would you go for the basic one when you can squeeze an extra unit out of the kit?!

Surprised that these two finally got finished, I moved onto finishing a Christmas present for a friend. Zombie Elvis! This is one of the Zombicide Season 3 VIP figures

After Elvis it still seemed to be pretty early in the day, so three undercoated probe droids were painted up, moving Imperial Assault one step closer to being completed. There is still a looooong way to go, but hey. One more group down

And would you believe it? There was *still* loads of time left before I had to start cooking dinner. For those of you that have been following the challenge over the years may remember I started painting up Shadows of Brimstone about 3 years back. It has been a struggle to keep going as the early models are not good. With the first KS finally nearing completion, I felt I should probably sort out some of the remaining figures. Sadly, because this one wasn't planned, I don't have a clear base for it yet. I need to work out what size it should have as he is (as you can see from the soon to be dead fallschirmjager) he is pretty darned big. I have every intention of using him in pulp and weird war games as well. You can never have too many giant demonic monsters!

The pile of uncompleted entries is... quite large. The original intent this year was to paint up all of the marines from both 30k board games as well as a pile of Black Scorpion cowboys. In typical butterfly gamer fashion these were replaced by the shinyshiny of weird war 2 instead.

As it is now about 9pm here, I doubt there will be any more updates for this year's Challenge, even though there are 4 more figures bordering on completed. So to round things off we have two more tanks, 4 28mm figures and whatever the hell the Harbinger counts as. If he stood upright he'd be about the same height as Barbie... but not quite as scary or unrealistic.

Ha! I always find it amazing what people can do when a deadline looms (so far I think we've cranked off 7,000 points in two days...). These are great Paul, especially so considering you just started them today! The German armour, Elvis and the Demon are very nice but I have a soft spot for those Probe Droids. When I do mine I'm going to use the same clear bases that you always feature. Their minimalism really works well for these minis.

45 Points for you Paul. You're cut off now - go to bed. ;P

From PaulS - As One Necromancer Said to the Other... (32 Points)

Unless someone else starts painting any DS models, we may need to call this side challenge dead... though the Necromancers could always resurrect it again if necessary.

On the right we have Mortibris, the necromancer from Dungeon Saga. As a model he's a bit bland and lacks a lot of crisp detail, so some exaggerated highlighting and shadows were needed in some places. Accompanying him is the necromancer from Zombicide: Black Plague (hereafter called Lord Black). Lord Black and his apprentice, Mortibris, will lead one of the Frostgrave warbands.

You can see from the scale here that Zombicide characters are a bit bigger than normal, but this is exaggerated by Mortibris, like all the heroes in DS, being tiny. Just wait until I get to the halfling character :/

One of Mortibris' lead henchmen is this undead troll shaman. Model wise it has loads of detail that paints up really easily. I did, however, make the mistake of going for green robes along with the putrescent flesh colour, so it isn't as clear. I can't think of anything currently listed in Frostgrave for this one sadly.

Lastly we have some tormented spirits. I decided to do these as dark, glowing shapes rather than white ghosts to show their trapped, tormented and evil nature. These can be wraiths or spectres in Frostgrave.

So this should be another 37 points as the troll is another big'un. 5 of these figures will count towards the Frostgrave challenge unless someone can think of a use for the zombie troll shaman ;)

Niiice! More Frostgrave goodness. Such great colours here.  Lovin' the shackled spectre with the ball and chain. In the right light it looks like me after seeing my credit card balance after Christmas...
Wonderful stuff Paul!
(Gee whiz, Willickers, I guess I should be updating the Duel Roster sometime soon...)

From PaulS - The shuffling bomb (325 Points)

This entry is a bit of a surprise, even to me. After finishing the gladiators the other day, I wasn't expecting to find the time or the impetus to actually finish much else before the deadline.  To be honest, I wasn't expecting to put in another entry at all. Turns out I was dead wrong.

This morning I woke up early, so while Claire was asleep, I stuck on Season 3 of Arrow and started on the Season 1 box for Zombicide as it was a fairly mindless thing that could be done while half asleep and watching tv. 4 hours later and I appear to have blitzed through a whopping 65 zombies! That is 40 Walkers, 16 Runners, 8 Fatties and 1 berzerk walker that I appear to have missed in the last batch. She had somehow rolled under the shelf on my painting tray and been missed... obviously a lurker that one!

Here is the new horde in all it's black and white glory... in full colour. I think that graveyard must be on top of some horrific mass grave to have spawned that many zombies!

When the Challenge is finished, I'll try and take a photo of the full horde... the numbers are bordering on the ridiculous. There were too many to fit in the lightbox, hence the in-situ shot instead.

So, 65 more 28mm zombies to the total please Curt. I believe that is 325 points in total... and yet another goal smashed! Put me down for 1750 next please. With 5 days left and no spare evenings, I'm not reliant upon sleepless nights to meet that one, small though it may be.

I really am going to have to do an end of Challenge photo as the model count is getting silly for me. I don't think I've ever painted this many models!

From Curt:

Awesome job Paul! That is an incredible amount of figures to get done in 4 hours! You obviously have a good pattern worked out for churning these little horrors out. Not bad for someone who had an initial points target of 500 points. Fantastic.

BTW, I do like that creepy gargoyle statue in the last picture. Very cool.
