From: Brettm Heroquest first edition from the Library of Fantasy [Fantasy Section](355 points)

Finally decided to paint my original version of Heroquest. I'm still up in the air if I will paint the new version or not. I'm not a huge fan of some of the sculpts. Below is the first edition all painted up as I walk through the Fantasy part of the Library

First up the Heroes

Then the Orcs

Goblins hoping to score a hit

Fimers with those extra attack die

Mummies slowly coming at you

Mummies slowly coming at you

Zombies with the huge cleavers

Chaos warriors and sorcerer

Close up

Blood for the blood god

Close up of the undead

Close up of the green tide.

Did all their bases a way I saw on I believe it was a FB post. Gives it the dungeon like look I feel like. We have 16 Orcs, 12 Goblins, 6 Fimirs, 12 Skeletons, 6 Mummies, 6 Zombies, 4 Chaos Warriors, 1 Chaos Sorcerer, 4 Adventuring Heroes. Total of 67 figures at 5 points each brings up 335 points. Plus the additional 20 for the Fantasy section of the library. Total 355

What a great collection of Heroquest miniatures, Brett! I have been looking at Heroquest myself recently, as there is a Dutch version that I might get the juniors to play, and your miniatures sure are inspiring! They have a very distinct, old worldy style to them which your great painting fits very well. Those goblins with their oversized kitchen knives!.Well done and another 355 points on the slate for you.

Ah, please remember to resize your photographs and your labels... And a map would be nice too!

From BrettM: Werewolves & Special Sunglasses [New Acquisitions](40pts)

For the New Acquisitions Werewolves from Warlord.

Most likely going to use these for a horror game or they will sit there and look pretty on the shelf.

Afraid the planet is being invaded by aliens? You just need some sunglasses to see who who's human and who's alien.

Great figure, he's here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and he's all out of bubble gum. If not familiar with the quote, Check out the movie "They Live"

4 minis completed to kick off the challenge for 20 points and another 20 for the New Acquisitions. Putting up 40 on the board for now.

Those Warlord Werewolves look terrific as well as terrifying, Brett! And nothing like a pair of sunglasses to pull off a really cool look. I only hope he'll find his bubble gum before accidents happen... Nothing bubbly about your math, you're off for s start with 40 points!

From BrettM: Heavy Starship Troopers Klendathu (45 Points)

First submission of the Challenge is finally here. Always seem to push to the limit due to holidays and catching up.

So recently started looking at this old Starship Troopers game. I wanted to start painting some figures for it and had these guys sitting around.

So went with a gray pattern as in the movie and figured these would be more of the "heavy weapons" guys

Still searching for some figures for normal infantry. Will have to fire up the resin printer for most of this if I keep going with it. Really like the helmets how they are half open. Painted the helmets separately and then glued on after finished with their faces.

First submission at 5 models at 5 points each for 25 plus 20 for Klendathu.

Welcome back to the Challenge Brett!

These troopers look brilliant (and a perfect choice for Klendathu). I'm curious, are they 3D prints, or are they from the game? I quite like their angular, plate armour, which your two-tone grey accentuates very nicely. I also think the red alien ground really make pop. Great work!

From Brettm: Rebellions and Blood bowl (144 points)

Challenge is drawing to a close, I just now finished my 5th (6th if you count Sarah's Balloon) spot on the challenge map.

Now for Benito's Brook

After reading some of the Benito's Brook posts. Kinda now wondering if this does classify. To me it was against all odds for what the rebels had to do. In a must win situation. So I give to you the Pathfinders from Rogue One A Star Wars Story

Front view of the Pathfinders
Really like the guy in the middle with the "hoodie" like jacket
Kept it simple with the goggles

These were my first Star Wars legion figures. While I don't plan to play Legion, I do plan on using the figs for other scifi rulesets. Especially Galactic Heroes.

Also up, the Lizard men team for Blood bowl.

All of them lined up

A bit closer up on half of them. Second attempt on painting eyes. I have yet to actually try on a smaller human figure

Painted a few with some field lines on their bases

Extra tokens that come with each team. Not sure what these would be worth.

Total in points 6 pathfinders and 12 Lizardmen for 90 points. Counting Legion as 28mm that is. Benito's Brook for +30. Assuming my math is right at 120 points. Not sure how the Snowlords peak works, I am working on the next Challenge to get me to it or take Sarah's Balloon if needed. def down to the wire though.

An interesting mix of nicely painted figures for this post. Legion figures are scored as being 40mm; I'm going to score the four large tokens as 2 points each and the smaller ones as 1 point each. That should give you a square 144 points.

As for how Snowlord's Peak works, given how close to the line we are I would suggest emailing him to let him know you are ready to be tasked.

From BrettM: A Knights Tale (35 Points)

Taking Sarah's Balloon to Millsy's Millpond

I have always been fascinated by miniatures. The dioramas people create and of course the figures. I finally picked up my first paint brush and miniature in 1993-94 I think? Might have been 95. Not having any idea what I was doing and none of my friends interested I just started slathering on random paints I found at the hobby town USA where it all started. Now they don't even sell Minis last time I went in there.
Over the years I stopped painting and lost all my stuff. To this day I have no idea what happened to the tackle box I had everything in. This however was the one Mini I remember the most from those days. I fell in love with the shield. However it was a love hate relationship. I painstakingly tried to paint the interwoven parts on the shield. I remember messing up and repainting that damn shield at least 50 times.
So when I found this guy on eBay I bought him immediately. So I could enjoy some nostalgia while painting him up. The shield this time took me no time at all. I am also baffled at how it took me so long to paint the thing years back. It does represent at least to me my intro into the hobby and all the memories and fun I have had since.

I am not sure when this mini was produced.  Point wise we have Millsy's Millpond for +30 points and the Figure for +5 points.

Great work Brett - I think all of us have memories of initial figures that took us down the path of this wonderful hobby. How cool that you were able to find this fellow on eBay - certainly I wish I could find more of the plastic "Imperial Army" figures that got me started in the early 1990s. In fact, I might go rummage through my pile just to see if I can find one...

35 points for you!

From Brettm Natives to Scifi (155 points)

On the next step on the map we hop aboard Sarah's Balloon

We have a famous captain who only needs one eye to be a badass

First time I have attempted actually painting an "eye" usually just do a wash and leave it. Couldn't do that on this model. I think it turned out great. Might be because its such a big eye though lol

I have been painting on this group off and on all through the challenge. Finally all finished up! So here we have these Natives from Firelock games.

 All of them grouped up
Decided not to do any shade on the feathers. Left them very bright.

Thought about basing them differently from the other blood and plunder guys I have. Ended up just going with the same base as the rest of the guys I have.

the "leaders" from what I can tell.

Point wise this is 24 Natives at 5 each comes to 120 points. Plus Sarah's Balloon of +30 and figure of +5. For a total of 155 points. Now where will this Balloon land...

Oi! You can't just hop aboard Lady S's Balloon without telling her where you want to go. That's almost hijacking! I'm sure that if you leave a comment here with your chosen destination, that will be OK.

Lovely work on these. Where is the badass captain from though? I'm sure others will want to know.

ps - I corrected your maths!

From BrettM: See you on the Beach (250 pts)

So far on Challenge Island

Now onto Mudry's Mesa I was inspired from last years entry from DaveD and his great job on his "hit the beach" entry.

I've had these since the competition ended last year. In fact pretty sure I went to Miniature Mart site and bought them right away. After seeing the post. So what better time to get them painted up. First up are the Tanks.

I enjoyed painting these and probably the quickest things I have painted in a while as far as from when I started to when they were completed
Think the commanders that came with the tanks look more like Brits than the US Commanders. Guess they could be either though. I haven't put any decals on them yet for this reason and not sure if I am going to. May just leave them how they are.
Now I would ask, do I have have enough? I believe I said I needed more last year, and was told by Dave I do. So I suppose I still need more

Now onto the landing craft.

I already had 3 boats painted previously, However I never did paint the infantry for them. Since I was painting these other 3 boats and infantry. Just painted them all together to knock them out.

Always torn on whether I should base tanks on bases or not. So far I have not, and leave them as is for the tabletop. I think I will always question myself on this anytime I paint any vehicle smaller than 28mm

In total the infantry for the boats were half models. Think they were awarded to Dave last year at 1pt per. So there is a total of 144. Then 3 boat drivers and 6 half models on the guns. So another 6 models if you combine the half ones. Total point wise 156 for figs and 64 points for the vehicles.

MilesR: A very nice invasion force in 15mm,  Lets us all hope these men are bound for Utah rather than Omaha Beach!  A very nice form of preparatory points bombardment in the form of 250 total points!
