from RayR - Challenge 16 Wrap up

Well that's another Challenge over and done with, I'm very pleased with how many figures I got painted  and its almost a shame its over, on was on a roll. Now as per usual my painting will die down for the rest of the year, which is a shame, but I don't think Mrs R would approve me diving into the garage every 5 minutes, like I have been and more disappointingly, I've got lots of decorating to catch up on now, so its a bigger brush I'll be using for a while!

Like I said I'm pretty pleased at my painting haul, these last 3 months and when you get in all out on the table together it looks rather impressive! I managed to paint up....

225 25mm figures

200 15mm figures

9 25mm barricades

76 25mm trees

20 25mm Road sections (various shapes & lengths)

I hoped I would get all the 15mm Vienna 1683 figures painted, but failed, I was halfway through the Pancerni when the Challenge ended, so they will appear soon. But I'm still pleased with the progress. All the other figures are prepped and undercoated and in the queue, so will hopefully join the other in the painted box before the start of the next challenge???

I gave myself a target of 1200 points, which I hoped would push me to get stuff done, which it did, I ended up with 1749 points in the end, which gave me a 13th place finish, which I am very pleased with, long gone are the days of Challenge II where I finished in 1st place, I'm in a different job now and don't get anywhere near the time to paint as I did back then. But the crazy 12 Challengers above me helped to pull me along and challenge for a top 20 place, which is one of my main aims, so thanks guys!

Here is my record during the Challenges so far.Challenge II 4940 points 1st
Challenge III 2586 points 4th
Challenge IV 1227 points 17th
Challenge V 691 points 37th
Challenge VI 681 points 36th
Challenge VII 1093 points 24th
Challenge VIII 662 points 40th
Challenge IX 2274 points 8th
Challenge X 1687 points 11th
Challenge XI 2260 points 8th
Challenge XII 2168 points 7th
Challenge XIII 1111 points 27th
Challenge XIV 1160 points 25th
Challenge XV 1299 points 15th
Challenge XVI 1749 points 13th

Interestingly, (well for me anyway?) is this year's points total is my 5th best total of points earned, in the Challenge so far, and my highest total since Challenge XI back in 2020/21.1 Challenge II 4940 points 1st
2 Challenge III 2586 points 4th
3 Challenge IX 2274 points 8th
4 Challenge XI 2260 points 8th
5 Challenge XVI 1749 points 13th
6 Challenge X 1687 points 11th
7 Challenge XV 1299 points 15th
8 Challenge IV 1227 points 17th
9 Challenge XIV 1160 points 25th
10 Challenge XIII 1111 points 27th
11 Challenge VII 1093 points 24th
12 Challenge V 691 points 37th
13 Challenge VI 681 points 36th
14 Challenge VIII 662 points 40th

Its also my 6th highest finish in the rankings. Long gone are the days when I could push for top spot, I just don't have the time.

1 Challenge II 4940 points 1st
2 Challenge III 2586 points 4th
3 Challenge IX 2274 points 8th
4 Challenge XI 2260 points 8th
5 Challenge X 1687 points 11th
6 Challenge XVI 1749 points 13th
7 Challenge XV 1299 points 15th
8 Challenge IV 1227 points 17th
9 Challenge XIV 1160 points 25th
10 Challenge XIII 1111 points 27th
11 Challenge VII 1093 points 24th
12 Challenge V 691 points 37th
13 Challenge VI 681 points 36th

From RayR - Last Post - Greek Mythology - Heracles & Chums!

Well I stared this years Challenge with some Jason and the Argonauts figures.....and I'm ending it with the same.

Well not actually the same figures, but more from Wargames Foundry's range.

I painted them up again, in the same black armour that Foundry painted theirs in.

Here we have the Mighty Heracles, who's a very large chap, in the middle its Canthus the Euboen and Ascalaphus.

Then we have Lynceus, Peleus the Myrmidon and Idas.

Then we have 5 more Children of the Hydra

Although I got a different figure in my pack, a left handed spearman!!

I'm pretty sure my Nephew Zac's gonna love them!!

Its his Birthday at the end of the month, I've bought him some Victrix Greek's, so look out for them on my blog soon.

I took a few shots of the figures having a fight....as you do?

So this is it, my final post of the 16th Challenge, the points are pretty easy to work out on this one.
11x 25mm figures at 5 points each will give me 55 points!

__________________________

Fabulous work, Ray! How wonderfully Harryhausen this bunch is. Your nephew is going to be over the moon to have these and think what an ace uncle you are! You know it will all come down to that left-handed skeleton being the nasty one of the lot...

Same time next year, Ray? I hope so! :)

- Curt

from RayR - DaveD's Favourite! Sandbags at 12 paces!!! 15 pts

DaveD and other always rib me over Sandbags, so as for the fist time in any Challenge I've painted WWII figures, I thought I'd have some sandbags!!!

I only bought these last week on Etsy, from The Forge Hub. They were only £3.41 plus postage. So I can't complain about the price at all.

They were very easy to paint up, firdtly with a stone colour, the drybrush white.

I wasn't going to base them, but last night thought again. I used artists card and cut out the shapes needed and them based them up in my usual way.

I'm very pleased with them and can't wait to use them in a game.

Once again I'm not really sure how they'll be scored, so I'll leave that up whichever Minion has the job.

From DaveD … who me , who me!… well yes me . I do of course refer you to the end results of very early challenge young Raymondo!  Of course you need winter sandbags . These are of course excellent , the basing helps for me / You will thank me in the end as Lee’s Soviet hordes advance and you have extra cover . Good lad - 15 pts it is .

from RayR - Winter War/Retreat from Moscow - Roar!! 32mm - 15 pts

I bought this furry hap last year and thought he could come in handy.

She's a 3D print and I'm sorry to say, I can't remember what the name of the company was that I bought him from. Only that it was at the Warfare Show in Farnborough last November.

Here he is standing next to a poor Fin, who she's eyeing up for breakfast.
And note I called her a her, I have been lambasted before about painting up female bears!

She will be deployed not only in Finland, but close to the Berezina attacking both French and Russians in the Retreat from Moscow.

Not sure of the points for this young lady, as I'm not sure of her scale, maybe 32mm or bigger??

From DaveD . Well done Ray another nice little addition .As if your lads haven’t got enough of a bad time with Rooskies of each era , you now give them hungry animals , which must have been woken from their slumbers. I bet they are Hangry . I take it you still have the sandbags post to finish 😆. It’s a biggy so 15 it is .
