From TeemuL: Zealots (15 points)

Here's my second entry for the Challenge and just in time for the Free Fire period - so I need to paint something new for Sunday.

These three are old Games Workshop Zealots for Mordheim Witchhunter warband. I primed these year ago for the previous Challenge, having a far fetched idea to use the guy in the middle as "food" entry - he has fish in his hand. But I managed to something else, so the plan was dropped. But since I try to get my hobby butterfly a bit under control, I'm trying to clean my queue and not just add there.

These three all wear the red and white with green pouches and packs (and fishes) and they are apparently quite new to this business, since their clothing is rather clean and bright. Something to expect from 90s minis from GW.

They painted up rather fast and easy, not too many details to pick up, but I still took some shortcuts. Very nice metal minis and soon I'll have minis enough to actually play with this group.

Something else to wrap up this post. I have managed to play a total of 5 miniature games this year. I'd like to play more next year. Anyway, yesterday we built a board with my son to play "Analogue Fortnite" or something like that. The board contains lots of different terrain and we spent some time work damage tables for guns and such like and then played a quick game today. The rules might need some tinkering, the game play was real time (because Fortnite is), and that might cause problems if we play this more (for apparent reasons). Anyway, the planning is part of the fun and it was great to spend some father-and-son time with miniatures again. My son (now 9 years old) used to paint some minis couple of years ago, but video games have now moved at the top of the priority list. Hence by covert operation of let's play Fortnite on board. :)

Most of the terrain is plastic GW terrain for 40k or AoS, some old GW trees and some scratch built. And a die cast Ferrari.

Crooked Dice has nice minis for this kind of games

Ok, that will be 15 points, 3 28mm minis. The flagellants were painted earlier. These zealots could have been useful in Heaven, but no bonus points in the Abyss. The puppet has a skull face, so 1 skull to open that duel for me. Let's see what I can finish by Sunday, I have lots of primed minis, but nothing started nor any actual plans...

Great work on these zealots, Teemu (though as you say, you should have kept them back for a later theme, but I'm sure you have more). I love those old metal castings from GW - such great character (and heft!). I LOVE your Analogue Fortnite game setup too. Real-time tabletop gaming?! I think that's terrific. Such a great idea and a wonderful way to lure your son away from the video games. Well done!

From SanderS: A Mordheim Tale (55 points)

 Hoi there,

So after bragging I will be doing lot's of GW stuff this Challenge and mostly Old World stuff, I have to put my money where my mouths is don't I? Mordheim has been a favourite of mine for a long time but just like with the Bretonnians, I had a limited budget back in the day so couldn't buy what I liked. In recent years that has changed and I have been keenly collecting stuff for Mordheim games and with a burgeoning club in my direct region with a lot of people wanting to play Mordheim I decided it's time to get cracking.

Today's post brings you my Witchhunter band, I have quite a lot of bands at the moment but this one I wanted to try out on the table a lot.

There's 4 characters with the Captain Ernest Pügelmann leading them.

Two more witchhunters to get at the heretics and witches for real.

Last of the heroes is the Warrior Priest, this is actually the Warhammer Quest model

To complement the heroes I have two groups of henchmen; one of Flagelants and one of Zealots. Both are not beefed out yet and I want some warhounds too but have only played one game to date, so I need to earn some more goldcoins in order to get reinforcements.

Zealots:

Flagelants:

Last Friday we played a 3 player Christmas game from the excellent fan made Yuleheim supplement, for this I printed 3 Christmas trees and converted them (I will take pictures for a later post)

As these are Oldhammer figures I will also enter these in the Oldhammer Side Duel and since there are 11 figures, I will enter them for 55 points.

Cheers Sander

Sylvain: This whole post oozes passion for Mordheim and it makes for a pleasant read. I love the characterful miniatures and how you personalized each of them with vibrant colors. These new addition will hopefully prolong the social pleasure of gaming with your newfound club. C'est exquis!
