Pretty patterns and shapes can lead to interesting discoveries and off the wall (literally) thoughts (see below, never saw this before, a hexagon is really three trapeziums - there should be something deeply significant to wargaming and board game construction - but fo rthe life of me I cannot see what it is):
The ongoing adventures of a boy who never grew out of making and playing with plastic model kits (and even some metal ones too). Also a wargamer in search of the perfect set of wargaming rules for WWII Land and 20th Century Naval campaigns.

Floor Tiles: Funny Things You See in a DIY Superstore
Wandering around a DIY store (and a large one at that) is not my most favourite pastime. For me it is like seeing a museum of guilty sins, the ultimate confessional of jobs I should have done. I must confess I am left with a feeling of inadequacy and perturbation at the sheer amount of "choice" available for all the jobs I did not even know needed doing! So within a matter of minutes I naturally get distracted (it is a defence mechanism) when I see something that has a meagre amount of wargaming potential (see below, in this case it was some ceramic tiles, but those hexagon shapes shouted out as potential terrain pieces to me - naval or space?):

Gotta Try and Do This Too: Shell Splashes
The beauty of blogs, you come across things that you simply say "Yes I need that to have that too"! (see below)

This goes on the project "to do" list, especially as it a perfect use of excess DIY materials ;)

Shameful Use of Wargaming Equipment
I have to report a serious wargaming crime (see below):
A "paste table" being used for wall papering? The second offence is the DIY instruction manual which no self-respectful amateur (DIY man) would be seen using, but in my defense it is a "book" akin to a "rule book" (first edition - some twenty years old now) of instructions on how to play" (see below)
The good news is I have half a bucket of wall paper paste looking for a none DIY home improvement use. Flocking comes immediately to mind ;)
PS Yes I had some paper "trimming" still to be done on the ceiling and skirting board overlaps :)

Painting Tray Updated Slightly
One good thing about packing things away is that "in the process of trying to be tidy" I inevitably find things I had completely forgotten about.
See bottom left below:
Some 1/3000 Navwar WWI Austro-Hungarian ships.
All part of a naval collection for a WWI "Hunt the Goeban" email campaign that stalled after a computer crash earlier this year. A wargaming project may take shape to resurrect this dead campaign?
PS I haven't forget about those WWII Tommies, I have a Vickers HMG and a 50mm deployed mortar team started. I must finish these for the complete Crossfire company OoB. I am just doing the wrong sort of painting just now :(

Painting Tray - State Change
Recent household DIY disaster, hence no models to be seen on my hobby table (see below)
:(
On the positive side a surplus to requirements 6mm ply-board has been donated to a wargaming friends table.
