General Pattern

Don't Be A Square, Look At This Trellis

Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON

I took this photograph at the Munro Street Nursery in Coburg, a suburb in the north of Melbourne. I was walking down the street to my car when I noticed the effect of the strong sunlight. I was doubly intrigued because I had to look carefully to see where the trellis ended and where the shadow began. See what I mean?

Absorber The Greek

When Ari Met Sally

Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON

My Greek friends and colleagues tell me that Melbourne has the largest Greek population outside of Greece. About fifteen years ago, there was even a hit Australian comedy TV series with the wonderful name `Acropolis Now'. This shot was taken in richly multicultural Coburg, a colourful suburb in Melbourne's north. Zorba's is a famous landmark here and it certainly stands out with its colour scheme. I took a couple of frames close up and then walked back a couple of hundred yards, to frame the Zorba sign between traffic signs.
