  • What vegetable gives Popeye his strength?

Yes, I know it's been a while since the last quiz, so I do apologise. Five bloggers had all the right answers to the last Question Time quiz - they were Katy Did Not, Sharon, Bart, Daryle and Such Simple Pleasures.

The questions were: 1. How many in a baker’s dozen? 2. Who created the "Dennis the Menace" comic strip? 3. Which US astronaut was a senator from 1974 to 1999? 4. On which fictional street is "Desperate Housewives" set? 5. In which country was Oscar winner Russell Crowe born?

The answers were: 13, Hank Ketcham, John Glenn, Wisteria Lane and New Zealand.

All Present And Correct

The challenge that I posed on the post Question Time was to answer five general knowledge questions without the help of the internet. Judging by the number of readers who turned in perfect scores, you're all ready for Mensa.

Just to recap: The person who lives at No. 10 Downing Street is Gordon Brown, the British Prime Minister; Wyle E. Coyote's enemy is The Road Runner; the last two US Presidents to share he same surname are indeed the Bushes; 2000 hours on a 24-hour clock is 8pm; the person who lit the flame at the Atlanta Olympics was Muhammad Ali.

All these people answered correctly: Kimmy, KatyDidNot, Katney's Kaboodle, Sandi McBride, Vic Grace, Jeni, Skittles, photographer and honorary blogger Siddharth Khandelwal, Lee, Brian in Oxford, Sandy Kessler, Daryle, Kai, Leslie, House of Lime, Terry Fletcher, Suldog and Akelamalu.

The wittiest answers came from Sharon, KatyDidNot, House of Lime and Imac.

Thank you to all those who took part. There will be another fun quiz in the next 24 hours.

Give The Man An A-Grade

Let's Have A Round Of Applause For Bart

On Thursday, I posted the inaugural Question Time and while quite a few readers got four correct answers (without using the Internet for help) only Bart got them all right.

The questions were: 1. Who is the voice of Bart Simpson? 2. Which industry was synonymous with London's Fleet Street? 3. For what is the name of the cruise line P&O an abbreviation? 4. Oprah Winfrey received an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe nomination for her role in which film? 5. How many novels did Harper Lee publish after To Kill A Mockingbird?

The answers were: 1. Nancy Cartwright, 2. Newspaper journalism, 3. Peninsula and Orient(al), 4. The Color Purple and 5. None.

But I also said I would make mention of the funniest wrong answer and there were several contenders. The best answer came from Holly who said P&O stood for "Pretentious and obstinate? No, this is a trick question. it's actually a play on the latin word peando, which is their word for ferrying people expensively around Europe." There was also a great answer from Julie, who said P&O stood for "Posh and Overpriced"; while Lime declared it stood for "Putrid & Overboard, a warning for those passengers not engaging in basic hygiene".
