What you see here is the sight that greeted me a few minutes after eight o'clock this evening. It's a good thing I always have my camera with me, so I simply pulled over and reached for my camera bag - and my jumper, because it's been a lot colder the past 48 hours. This is not the best sunset I've ever photographed, but it's still very rewarding to witness and record a sight like this. I shot a few vertical frames as well, but the horizontal versions were much stronger images.
The strange thing is when you're standing there shooting a scene like this, you don't really appreciate how the colours change in the space of a minute or two. As you can see here, the difference is quite dramatic, with the orange wash much stronger and wider in the second frame. And believe it or not, there was less than a minute between the two shots.
