Verse And Worse

Random Wit, Errant Rhyme. Not A Literary Crime

He ascended each hill and traversed each dale
He was fearful of nothing, not even a gale
So off he would venture, with his lantern jaw
And his boot firmly wedged in the SUV door

My Fare, Lady

Whaddya Mean, We're Rank Outsiders?

Photograph copyright: SIDDHARTH KHANDELWAL

This wonderful shot was sent to me a few days ago by Siddharth Khandelwal, an up-and-coming young photographer from New Delhi. This, in his words, is the story behind the picture:

``We were driving to Ramgarh, Rajasthan, when I saw this SUV. These vehicles run as taxis, stopping and picking up passengers along the highway. This is a perfect example of demand exceeding supply. As you can see from the rear of the SUV, people who couldn’t get a place inside were holding on outside but this guy in the orange shirt with only his head inside, looked like he was trying to emulate an ostrich. They were in front of us for a good five kilometres an he maintained his (uncomfortable) position for the entire distance.''
