JustDave's Notes:
- Thank you to BiginV3 sending the vinyl to The Collective Of Live Music for digitizing.
- Thank you also to Draftervoi, Sam Elliot's Mustache & avnut for impute and assistance.
Known Faults:
- Record 1 which is Sides A & C arrived from seller with dried dirt in the sleeve containing the album. It had to be hand rinsed with distilled water, then rinsed with Research Lab Super Record Wash, then cleaned in the ultrasonic cleaner. After which all the filters needed changed. Then the regular process I use of cleaning the record could be done as lain out in the editing notes.
- The dirt in the sleeve caused scratches and little dot impressions in the vinyl. This caused more pops, thumps and other noises that needed editing.
- I have nicknamed this "The Sandblasted Album Project".
Recording Notes:
- There is a locked groove test tone at the beginning of Side A for radio stations to set output levels and balance before broadcast. It was not encoded.
- A locked groove show promo was included at the end of Side E, that was encoded.
- I normally include a songs intro with the song it's for. However Mary Robbins does a 3 minute story introducing his cover of Waylon Jennings & Willie Nelson's hit song "Good Hearted Woman" that should stand on it's own as a bit of comedy.
Editing Notes:
- Records hand cleaned with Record Research Lab Super Record Wash before playback.
- LP cleaned with the HumminGuru Ultrasonic Vinyl Record Cleaning System prior to playback.
- A Zerostat Positive Ion gun was used on LP prior to playback.
- Raw transfer: EQ off, treble and bass levels set at +/- zero for most accurate sound of LP.
- Turntable balanced: Needle Tracking, Azimuth, Pressure & Antiskid Dialed In: Soundcard stereo field maximized: Goldwave set to record while filtering any offset.
- Recording and all editing done in 24bit/96khz.
- Preservation being key the show is encoded complete with commercials and voiceovers.
- Declicked manually, some noise reduction used depending on if it best serves the situation.
- Had to even out the volume levels as the voice overs were louder than the music & the commercials were quieter than everything else.
Other Notes:
- Host Larry Kenney not only did The Silver Eagle Cross Country Road Show. He did Westwood One's Monday Night Football radio coverage, was the voice of Count Chocula and Sonny The Coco Puffs Bird.
- Larry Kenny won Billboard Magazine's “Country Music Air Personality of the Year” in 1976 & 1978.
- Larry Kenny also was the voice of Lion-O and Jackelman in the original Thundercats Go! and is the voice of Skittles Taste The Rainbow.
- This broadcast takes place 4 months before Marty Robbins' death at the age of 57 on December 8, 1982. Robbins had undergone open heart surgery due to a heart attack on December 2, 1982. Marty Robbins had just been inducted into the Country Music Hall Of Fame only months before. Marty Robbins was also awarded Male Country Music Artist Of The Year in 1982.
- Floyd Cramer has played piano for Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, Roy Obison and The Everly Brothers as well as host of Nashville's Hottest Stars.
- Floyd Cramer is known for a "slip note" style of playing that became the prefered playing style of Nashville artists t have on their songs.
- Floyd Cramer was named Country Music's Top Keyboardist from 1969-1974.
- Floyd Cramer was named to both The Country Music Hall Of Fame and The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in the same year.
- Floyd Cramer played on Elvis Presley's first RCA Records recording session in 1956. He also played on Elvis' last session before joining the Army in 1958.
