Been a little while since I posted any Jethro Tull. Also if you couldn't tell by the last couple of posts I was in a Classic Rock era state of mind this week. I have been editing some very heavy Heavy Metal boots so I was in the mood for something a little less. Another thing, this is some great Jethro Tull!!! In an hour and fifteen minutes they only play 5 songs!! Lots of great jamming here! Even though it's not one of there preferred genres, both Rosebud and Spider approve this post for the performance! It sounds pretty good too. From what I understand this has been remastered from a very low generation tape. I do know Tull fans are really gonna like it!

JustDave's Notes:
Downloaded from https://hd24bit.com/ there are bootlegs there but they also have commercially released stuff you have to look through to find them. Just another of my sources.

A nice sounding soundboard from Jethro Tull's Benefit Tour of The United States. The show even includes an early version of "My God" which would be on Jethro Tull's next album Aqualung. There is some tape hiss but the recording is over 50 years old (I think that math was right). Anyway this show, if not part of your collection, should be if your a Tull fan!

Digitized from the five sided, 3-LP syndicated radio disc. Side 6 was blank.
Flac files of wavs. 300 dpi scan of the cue sheet and disc label.
The show is hosted by Perry Stone. This version does not have commercials on it. There was also another version of the show with national commercials.
All tracks are recorded live at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena on December 11, 1980 during Jethro Tull's "A" tour. The internet says this concert was previously released in 1981 as one of the 3LP "A Night On The Road" syndicated radio broadcasts (ANOTR-581). The "A Night On The Road" version includes three songs missing on this Captured Live! show: "Working John Working Joe", "Protect And Survive", and "Locomotive Breath", but is missing "Batteries Not Included" and "Uniform" (included on here).
I don't have the ANOTR version, but I'll keep an eye on EBAY. It'll turn up eventually, and if so, I'll throw a bid at it.
The Internet also tells me that Perry Stone erroneously mentions Peter-John Vettese as the keyboard-player where it should be Eddie Jobson. The Internet is a bit of a know-it-all, isn't it?
The tracks on the syndicated broadcast are in a different running order than the original concert.
The original set was:
Slipstream Intro
Black Sunday
Crossfire
Songs From The Wood
Hunting Girl
The Pine Marten's Jig
Heavy Horses
Skating Away On The Thin Ice Of A New Day
Flute Solo
Guitar Solo
Keyboard Solo
Batteries Not Included

Working John, Working Joe
Protect And Survive
Locomotive Breath
Instrumental finale / Black Sunday reprise
Encore - Aqualung
Bungle In The Jungle
Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena was built in Exposition Park in 1959 and featured an elliptical transverse steel truss roof with a span: 315 feet x 430 feet. The structure was demolished in 2016. It had a capacity of 22,400 seats and cost $5.2 million to build.

Alright this is truly a rare find. It's difficult to even locate a Toe Fat album, but a bootleg, wow! Toe Fat to some are a footnote in the Rock And Roll History Book referencing other bands. Two members of Toe Fat, Ken Hensley & Lee Kerslake, left to form Uriah Heep after the first album. John Glascock went on to join Jethro Tull. Brian Glascock went on to play with Captain Beyond, Iggy Pop, The Motels & The Bee Gees. Alan Kendall went on to play lead guitar for The Bee Gees. Of course there was Lee & Ken's first band The Gods with future E.L.P. member Greg Lake. The Gods first single is included here. The main body of this disc is the BBC appearances of Toe Fat. Toe Fat's Psychodelic Hard Rock was vital to The Roots Of Hard Rock/Heavy Metal.

justdave notes:
Ripped from a tape I made of a friends vinyl bootleg years ago.
The album was a Trade Mark of Quality release. The cover was blue with black lettering Hand in Glove and the TMQ label logo. A sticker stated it was a Jethro Tull live album. There was no location or date info given. The track list was an insert that gave the track list of 20 other releases as well.
The album was recorded to a Memorex CD2 110 High Bias: High Output: Wide Dynamic Range cassette on a Sony TC-WR661 sterio Cassette Deck.
The tape was later recorded to CD using a Sony RCD-W500C CD Recorder using the super bit mapping setting. The resulting CD-r was ripped with Exact Audio Copy. The waves were then imported to GoldWave v.5.04 for pop/click fix. The waves were then encoded to flac level 8 using Traders Little Helper.
This is the line up that recorded the A album. The recording features 6 tracks from that release. I personally love the treatment given to "Locomotive Breath" by this line up.
