Our friend analogkid610 commented that we should have more Uriah Heep on the site. Since Rosebud was in charge of picking shows this week, I told her to pick one out. This is what she said.

Okay so I can't remember all the music Dave exposes me to..the stereo is on like 24-7. I looked through all the files on the hard drives. There are 4 of them hooked up. When I found the right spot, I opened the folder and looked at the end of each of the sub folders looking for SBD, FM, or ExAud and in big letters I see Pre-FM. That's my choice, so I start listening to it and realized I know and really like these guys. Like I said Dave plays so much different stuff it's hard to remember. I gave my list to Dave and he said "Yeah! That one...was just talking about finding it." So there you go....lolol

Another band who is more known for the fact that a future member of Uriah Heep came from their ranks. The band is more of a Hard Rocking Blood, Sweat & Tears than an early Hard Rock group like Toe Fat. I think all lovers of the 1970's Jazz Rock & R & B bands will like The Keef Harley Band.

Alright this is truly a rare find. It's difficult to even locate a Toe Fat album, but a bootleg, wow! Toe Fat to some are a footnote in the Rock And Roll History Book referencing other bands. Two members of Toe Fat, Ken Hensley & Lee Kerslake, left to form Uriah Heep after the first album. John Glascock went on to join Jethro Tull. Brian Glascock went on to play with Captain Beyond, Iggy Pop, The Motels & The Bee Gees. Alan Kendall went on to play lead guitar for The Bee Gees. Of course there was Lee & Ken's first band The Gods with future E.L.P. member Greg Lake. The Gods first single is included here. The main body of this disc is the BBC appearances of Toe Fat. Toe Fat's Psychodelic Hard Rock was vital to The Roots Of Hard Rock/Heavy Metal.

For my birthday in 1983 my mother asked me for the names of a couple albums that I might want and what store to find them at. I told her to go to Harmony House (a large chain of music stores here in Michigan, now out of business) and go to the Heavy Metal section. I told her to look for the ugliest album cover you could find and I guarantee that I will like the album. She brought home Black Sabbath's Born Again, Ozzy Osbourne's Bark At The Moon & Uriah Heep's Abominog. Major score! I've been a fan of Uriah Heep since I first heard the Demons & Wizards album while skipping out on school at a very young age!. This is a very nice show that kicks off with a chunk of newer material then closes out with some awesome classics.

Uriah Heep promoting their Sweet Freedom release on the first Don Kirschner concert program ABC In Concert.  The single "Stealin'" would peak in the US chats at #33 and #18 in the UK. This would help the album to be certified Gold by early 1974. David Byron would only last 3 more years and as many albums. In 1976 he was fired because his drinking making it imposable to work with him. David would pass away February 28, 1985 at the age of 38 from complications due to alcohol related complications, including liver disease and seizures. Gary Thain was fired in February 1975 due to his heroin addiction making him unreliable. He passed away from a heroin overdose on December 8 of the same year, he was 27 years old.
