justdave's notes:
I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to re-edit some track marks and even out the volume and raise the volume level. Traders Little Helper was used to encode the waves to MP3 320kbps since the DVD had lossy audio.

There was a few spots in the broadcast where the stream stopped, this is found on every source that I have found. These rough spots are few in number and do not take away from the listening pleasure of this recording.

Touring Musician:

John Sinclair – keyboards

From the Retirement Sucks Tour, Geezer still in the line-up but would leave again. Dean Castronovo would also split. I always love hearing Ozzy songs with Geezer on bass. Bob Daisley writes some good stuff no denying, but I am sorry I love Geezer's playing that much more. He plays around with the riff on anything he plays. He doesn't seem to change Bob's riffs much. I like Dean Castronovo's druming too. His playing on Ozmosis is great but his playing on Geezer's G//Z/R debut Plastic Planet that really impressed me.

G//Z/R was an Industrial Death Metal band that also featured Burton C. Bell of Fear Factory on vocals. I saw them play live on a very short promo tour. When they started playing their first song plaster fell from the theater's ceiling. A mosh pit broke out then parted as a stage diver was in mid air. He got up after landing on my friend who was drunk and passed out in the pit. Me and another from our group picked up our buddy and put him in the car for safe keeping then quickly heading back in. After the show I stopped at the merch table to buy a shirt. Behind the table was Geezer's wife, sitting next to her was Geezer. I asked for an autograph and he gave it, then handed me a clip board and says "Now gimme your's". It was the mailing list, so I signed up. Every month for 2 years I received a hand written note from Mrs. Butler and a sheet detailing what was going on with Geezer's solo project. When Burton C. Bell left to go back to Fear Factory the fan club got a request for demo tapes for auditions to replace Bell. I sent mine because hey why not? I received a hand written letter from Geezer thanking me for my submission but....he was going with Clark Brown. I don't care I got a hand written rejection letter from Geezer....Other musicians understand lol!!!

Rosebud has a pretty wide musical taste but if I ask her what she wants to hear I usually have to preface it with no Queensryche, Kansas or Dio. They are her 3 go to bands when asked, which sometimes annoys me since I have her every CD she asked for. I usually have to remind her she has the compete recorded works of Grace Slick and Lynyrd Skynyrd to get a different response out of her. Last night I didn't say that, so that means you benefit with a great Dio show! I probably say this too much but  one thing I really love about Ronnie's Dio music is that it neatly ties together the music from his days in both Black Sabbath and Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.

justdave's notes:
I had ordered this recording from an online CD store but it never came. Now the site is closed. As fate would have it I went shopping at one of my favorite used CD stores and they had a copy. This store will copy any Bootleg CD that they receive then sell the CD afterward. They will also sell the copies for a smaller price than the original. That is how I obtained this copy. The CD-r I bought is most likely a 1st Generation copy but I have listed it as unknown generation since I am not 100% certain. I downloaded some art from Gig In Japan which has been included.

I included this in a Kansas download as a bonus but I kind of botched that so We figured lets just post them for you. Of course everyone knows Steve Walsh left Kansas over the Christian lyrics being written by Kerry Livgren. Steve was replaced with John Elefante. Kansas had already recorded some demos for Vinyl Confessions with Steve Walsh. These are those demos.

Talk about a before the fame post! Kansas before the classic line-up came together. Still playing Progressive Rock but more in the mold of IF. There is ample use of the horns in the band. It's interesting to hear early versions of "Death Of Mother Nature Suite" and "Incomudro (Hymn To The Atman)" with horns!!! The tape must be up there in the generations or just a really old source. Although it shows it's age the avid Kansas collector and the casual fan alike may enjoy seeing what the band was like before being famous. Oh I found a photo of a flyer for Kansas at the Opera House advertising FREE BEER! to pack the house because an agent or producer was coming to the show. A great tactic!!

A nice sounding recording from Cyndi Lauper early in her career. Part of my WMMS broadcast collection, this early recording captures what Cindi was like in the days when she was establishing herself as one of Pop Musics most successful Ladies. This show exhibits why she became one of my Rosebud's favorite Female Musical Performers.

Dee Murray died January 15, 1992 from complications of a stroke and skin cancer, he was 45.

I was listening to this show when Rosebud says to me "Post that one with my approval". So another great Rosebud Pick. This show is the same as on the bootleg The Madman Shakes Tokyo, I do not know if they are the same source though. If you don't have a copy you should because the show is fabulous with a capitol F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S! These early shows that Elton used to play with a very stripped down band are always a pleasure to hear. I just re-watched To Russia With Elton (for the unknown number of times now) it's amazing. Just Elton John at the piano and Ray Cooper providing different percussion for all the songs. The first time I saw it was late night on some UHF-TV station that you could only tune in at night when there was less interference for the signal because the 3 major stations had signed off for the night. It blew me away then and it still does today, at about 80db through my speakers that my kids call Stonehenge, LOL!!

The flac files for each CD have been uploaded separately, they can open separately too. If you can I would recommend downloading one from each service at the same time.

- CD-rs ripped at 16bit/44,1khz.
- Had trouble with CD-rs not wanting to take more than 1 LP side without failing.
- EAC Log given for each CD-r ripped.
- Raw transfer: EQ off, treble and bass levels set at zero for most accurate sound of LP.
- No noise reduction used.
- Manualy de-clicked in Goldwave.

Known Faults:
- No cue sheets included when purchased.

Thanks go to Draftervoi for providing Cue Sheet and Label scans along with a couple news articles from his Westwood One library.

This is a new encoding of an Original 2 Vinyl LP Broadcast Record Set in my personal collection. I had encoded this before but it was in an edited form. There were skips in some areas that were left of the last time which was basically the voice overs and commercials. Being an archivist as well as a collector I like getting the commercials too. They have been indexed separately so you can omit them if you want.

This is also a sonic upgrade as I have upgraded my equipment and techniques. The recording was made on a Vocopro CDR-1000PRO professional CD-r recorder. It's musician road case rack mount rated. It records in 24bit/44,1khz creating a high quality CD-r. It's meant for musicians to record their gigs and rehearsals. After the recordings were ripped I used Goldwave v.6.83 (no AI plugins) to manually remove vinyl pops and clicks from the waves before encoding them. I spent a lot of time working on this one trying to obtain the best quality I could. Hope everyone enjoys it!!

Rosebud picked another good one for you, this time a Master Recording from Geoff Tate on yet another World Tour celebrating Operation Mindcrime. So you get the full Mindcrime performance and a couple other tracks. One song stands out as being a rare performance, "One Foot In Hell" from Operation Mindcrime II. It's not a track played that often with being in a complete performance of Mindcrime II. So that's pretty cool, Geoff's in pretty good voice as well. All in all a really enjoyable listen.

Notes:
- This is the first of two consecutive night Rush played at Wembley Arena in 1992.
- This soundboard recording was initially used for a British radio broadcast, therefore certain songs from the standard RTB set list were ultimately omitted.
- Recording is not the complete show but is the complete broadcast recording.
- The entire soundboard recording of the full set list has never been released.

This Master Tape by Tattie is not rare but there are other titles from this show that get posted more. However at The Rush Archives it is unanimous that this is the copy to have. I've compared the seven different versions and I agree this is the best sounding. The others are from tapes with some Generation age to them. Some have drastic cuts in them to re-arrange the running order for some reason. Others have speed problems. None of that is here it's only problem is it is to short.

Steve Perry – lead and backing vocals

Gregg Rolie – keyboards, backing and lead vocals
Ross Valory – bass guitar, backing vocals
Aynsley Dunbar – drums

This recording comes close to when Aynsley Dunbar leaves Journey. It's actually the start of the one by one loss of everyone, except for Neil Schon, that had anything to do with bringing Journey from No Name to Fame. Next to leave will be Gregg Rolie, then Ross Valory. The music would also go through changes as the members came and went. When Steve Perry came in the music went from a Progressive sounding Hard Rock to a more radio friendly sounding Album Oriented Rock or Arena Rock. This in turn was the reason for Aynsley Dunbar's departure. When Gregg Rolie left and Jonathan Cain came in, the music evolved to a synthesizer driven Pop Rock. When Ross Valory left the band become a full on Adult Contemporary Ballad band. Unfortunately the band has slipped into the same swampy farce as the 1980s Hair Metal scene. With members and former members engaging in law suits over the bands name, Steve Perry released a solo album  and claims he never felt like a real member of the band and refused to take part in their Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame performance...Now that's said, screw it and let's just enjoy some great music....

Gary Richrath died December 13, 2015 from complications to treatment at hospital, he was 65

I remember the first time I heard R.E.O Speedwagon. I turned on my radio just as the DJ was saying here's "R.E.O. Speedwagon..." and "Golden Country" came on. Man that organ and the guitar riff just got me. I've always wanted to do a Heavier version of it. It really could be a Heavy Metal song. I actually made myself a compilation called Songs That Should Be Metal Songs "Golden Country's" on it. So are Bruce Springsteen's "Adam Raised A Cain", Queen's "Shear Heart Attack", and "Tenament Funster", The Eagles "Victim Of Love" among others.

Back to R.E.O. Speedwagon. I went out and bought the album and I still have it in rotation on my turntable. R.E.O. in the 1970s had a Spinal Tap kind of saga in the lead vocal position. Cronin's in Cronin's out, Mike Murphy's in Mike Murphy's out, Kevin Cronin's in, it made for what some call a spotty musical history. The change in vocalist always has a effect on the sound of any band. I am in no way saying that the Mike Murphy albums are bad albums. There are songs on those records that the Kevin Cronin R.E.O. continued to play live. They can not leave a stage without playing "Riding The Storm Out". This FM capture is a little thin on bass but is a great performance and a nice listen!

We have been on a bit of a Kansas kick at our home. I have been transferring my boots from a 5TB and a 4TB dive to a 22TB one. It's been a long process that is not quite finished. It however has been fun going through the archive finding shows that we forgot we had. Like this beautiful little item here. It's  only 22 minutes long but it sounds Great yes with a capitol G!!!  Every Kansas fan Definitely should download this show!!!!

I mean it every Kansas fan download this one here even if you have it in you're collection. Why? Because there is a little extra surprise inside since the show is so short!! What kind of surprise you ask? Here are a couple hints....Think unreleased demos...think vocalist Steve Walsh...think of the album released after Steve Walsh left Kansas...Think recordings made before Steve Walsh walked out....So if you guessed you are already downloading. If you haven't guessed you will find your answers will come to you at about 1MB per second when you download this great set!!

This is an upgrade to another Ozzy Osbourne post located on the blog here. It is an FM broadcast recording, this is a Pre-FM source. This is also uncensored and the broadcast recording has quite a few bleeps to cover swearing. This also has all the shows interviews with band and audience members. The FM recordings links are still good, I just checked them, so if you would like to compare for yourself, you can.

Notes On Remaster:
1. Speed correct.
2. Re-balance Tonality/EQ.
3. Correct channel imbalances.
4. Reduce hiss, clicks, pops and excessive claps.
5. Adjust dynamics.
6. Repair tape flips.
7. Create stereo image for brief mono segments.
8. Remove or reduce disruptive yelling by audience (sit down)

Notes:
1. "Sit down" yelled frequently, similar to the Yes concert in August, 1977 at the same venue.
2. Brief periods of mono suggesting splice for tape repair.

You can never go wrong with a Dan Lampinski recording just like with Mike Millard. When PRRP gets involved in remastering a show...it becomes the best version it can be. So here we are, the PRRP Remastering of this Classic show.

In Rosebud and My humble opinions, this version of this show is a must have. I have the original master and even that one would have been a must have. It's the performance as well as the recording. Kansas are on FIRE!!! The performances and the arrangements are phenomenal!! It's a You really have to hear it yourself thing. Any Kansas fan will be blown away by this show!

Okay remember what I said about Rosebud and her rating system for rating Queensrÿche shows? Same thing here, it's an FM simulcast recording so sound is a little less than Excellent but listenable and Geoff Tate hits the high notes in "Take Hold Of The Flame"

Now Rosebud doesn't just rate her Queensrÿche bootlegs on sound. She also rates them on how well Geoff Tate does the scream on "Take Hold Of The Flame". They did it as the encore and Geoff hits the highs so Rosebud said post it. Now she also says that you have to give a little on the sound quality. This was a simulcast, live as it happens, some times they have sound glitches. This one did not have the clearest sound but the band was on fire the whole show. The artwork for A Measure of Success is included since this version has none.

Harpo's was packed that night since WLLZ-FM gave the tickets out for free. WLLZ-FM was in a war with The Original Home of Rock & Roll The Riff WRIF-FM 101.1. WRIF was the first Underground FM Radio Station in Detroit. The studio was in a mobile home and they would move it when the feds were getting close. They went legit and parked the mobile home where the radio station is still located today. WLLZ and WRIF were trying to one up each other by trying to get the biggest scoop of a live broadcast on their station. The result is a lot of bootlegs were recorded in Detroit that year. That included WRIF's winning broadcast of Kiss at Cobo Hall, which became the Live And Uncensored Video release from KISS. WLLZ went off the air and went Kool Jazz in the 1990s. WRIF still Rocks Detroit, now WLLZ is back as an "Updated Classic Rock Radio Station" since they play Guns n' Roses, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins and other 1990s bands. Remember when Mom & Dad said "One day Led Zeppelin will be on the Oldies Station." Oldies Station, Classic Rock Station, a rose by any other name still has the thorns right?
