It's hard to explain to Modern Day Metalheads what it was like to live in the 1980s Metal Heyday. Records at that time were harder to find, especially the really good stuff. You couldn't walk into K-mart or Sears and buy Motörhead or Venom records. You had to go to the Record stores. I actually had to mail order my first Motörhead, Venom & Iron Maiden vinyls. I remember when I was in high school whenever you were invited to a party they said bring some of your records with you to everybody, always. I walked into one with my brand new copy of Iron Maiden Killers (the American version) the guys in the basement treated me like a king. We all stood around the stereo smoking weed & drinking warm keg beer listening to Maiden over and over. The girls sat in the corner talking about us.

I love Iron Maiden, I have all their albums (Paul & Bruce's solo stuff too!). I have seen Maiden many times with Bruce and I even saw them with Blaze Bailey. My Heavy Metal Heat bleeds Di'Anno era Maiden. Hearing Killers for the first time for me was a watershed moment. Paul Di'Anno and Iron Maiden made me the Metalhead that I will be til the last curtain....

I promised You some rare Masters....This set of recordings from Van Halen's Legendary Hide Your Sheep Tour just surfaced at The Traders Den this week!! These 2 shows are very nice sounding soundboards. Hardly any audience noise is heard and you can hear everything going on on stage.

I will also say that David Lee Roth is in fine form on the 22nd but the 24th is a little bit drunker and slurring his words a bit. This is a classic Roth era Van Halen show. Van Halen always brought that Drunk At The Bar And Jamming Vibe onto those huge stages they took on tour. It was their stock and trade or modus operandi, it was what made a Van Halen show. It was an event, a traveling party that brought all the decadence that your parents warned you of, and you secretly wanted because of their warnings (Warning Labels Sell Records Thank You Tipper!!). Van Halen on tour in the 1980s was like The Rolling Stones on tour in the 1970s. You sat in the audience just knowing that back stage there was a Circus Of Unfathomable Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll Delights!

So here we have another old friend with a new set of clothes. King Biscuit liked to revisit old shows, a money maker. No recording coasts, the shows already recorded. Just add some new commercials, distribute and there you go. So this is the 1990s Remastered Version of their classic Boston broadcast. I would say that the new master is what they call "Modern Loud" with compression to keep it from clipping. The show sounds real good at high volume and Boston did Rock the house so enjoy my friends

Billy Sheehan bass & vocals "La Grange"; "Voodoo Chile" & bass "Little Wing"
Dave LaRue bass "Voodoo Chile"
Jeff Campitelli drums
Stu Hamm bass "La Grange"

Notes:
The recording from Fantasy Studios is a great sounding broadcast recording. The recording of the unknown G3 show is a passable audience recording at best. The bass is a muddy throb the lead guitar is hearable. I say listen to that part once but turn up the volume on the first nine tracks!

I have had a few people ask if I have any Joe Satriani shows. I don't have a lot but I figured I should answer the requests!

From my vaults, one of the many Pre-FM CDs that I will be making new rips of. After having a friendship where Draftervoi and I send each other shows, I have gone to the other side. I now believe that I should archive these as they were meant to be heard, as a complete radio program...It's an aural time machine

By the way from what I understand this is the House Of Blues broadcast. I didn't know that when I first edited this set so the text file needs to be updated.

This WMMS Broadcast Master recording is not really rare either but it is the lesser posted of the 1978 tour. I really love this show because it was a simulcast so it's warts and all. It's also a complete concert, some FM broadcasts are edited prerecorded affairs. The best performances picked and bad ones left out all that crap. As for the performance, these guys don't sound like a band that will be going it's separate ways after the tour.

Notes:
- This is the first of two consecutive night Rush played at Wembley Arena in 1992.
- This soundboard recording was initially used for a British radio broadcast, therefore certain songs from the standard RTB set list were ultimately omitted.
- Recording is not the complete show but is the complete broadcast recording.
- The entire soundboard recording of the full set list has never been released.

This Master Tape by Tattie is not rare but there are other titles from this show that get posted more. However at The Rush Archives it is unanimous that this is the copy to have. I've compared the seven different versions and I agree this is the best sounding. The others are from tapes with some Generation age to them. Some have drastic cuts in them to re-arrange the running order for some reason. Others have speed problems. None of that is here it's only problem is it is to short.

Ruby Starr & Grey Ghost are a Southern Rock band who's singer, Ruby Starr sang back up vocals for Black Oak Arkansas. If you're into Southern Rock at all you should check out Ruby Starr & Grey Ghost. They are everything you would expect for an off shoot of Black Oak. Raucous, Funky, a Little Wild and a confidence on stage fit for a headliner. It's kind of like Jim Dandy helped Dale Krantz write the Rossington-Collins Band's songs instead of Gary Rossington and Allen Collins. I personally will be searching out their studio releases now.
