Composer, Player, Innovator, Jazz Icon, Legend Wayne Shorter has died at the age of 89. No cause of death was given. Wayne Shorter is/was/always will be one of my favorite Jazz Musicians Of All Time. From his work with Miles Davis to his days in Weather Report to his solo endeavors and his many projects with Herbie Hancock, the man is nothing less than Phenomenal!! He has the awards to prove it too! From Downbeat's Reader's Poll's New Star Saxophonist in 1962, his 1st Grammy Award, with Weather Report Best Jazz Fusion Performance in 1979 for their 8:30 album. He won a Best Improvised Jazz Solo Grammy in 2023 for his track "Endangered Species". Wayne had retired from the road due to heath conditions that made it to hard to do so in 2018 but kept recording till he couldn't anymore (respect, much respect). His presence in the Jazz World will be sorely missed.

Travis Stever – guitar, lap steel, backing vocals, synthesizer
Chris Pennie – drums, percussion
Wes Styles – keyboards, bass
A nice sounding recording from Progressive Metalers Coheed And Cambria, although Travis Stever's guitar can sometimes be a little low in the mix. Once these guys get started they don't waste any time. Almost every song segues, they only stop 3 times in the whole show. Bassist Wes Styles was only filling in at the time of the recording, due to original bass player Michael Todd being arrested on armed robbery charges, Wes has since been made a permanent member.

Lamar Williams died from lung cancer January 21, 1983, he was 34.
Draftervoi's Notes:
Chuck Leavell joined the Allman Brothers in 1972, when the group moved away from the twin-lead guitar sound in the wake of Duane Allman's death. He was with them until the band had one of their break-ups in 1976, at which point he went full time with Sea Level. Sea Level's albums mixed long jazz rock instrumentals with shorter funk-rock-pop songs...and never put out a live album.
Hosted by Lesley Palmiter of Boston's WCOZ-FM and brought to you by Heath Candy Bars and
Scotch Recording Tape. Recorded at the Paradise Theater in Boston.
Chuck Leavell went on to play on a dozen or so albums by the Rolling Stones and also win the coveted Georgia Tree Farmer of the Year Award not one but two times.
The vinyl on this was a bit noisy, but I knuckled down and pulled off every click I could find. Unfortunately there was no cue sheet, but you get a 300 dpi scan of the disc label.

What can be said about David Crosby that hasn't been said. Successful with The Bird, with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (and all the mini groupings within that very group of musicians). David Crosby is easily one of the most influential singer/songwriters to emerge from the ending of the 1960s.
The 1st time I saw David Crosby live was with Crosby, Stills, & Nash. It was the opening of the Palace of Auburn Hills, Michigan. The show was sponsored by the Detroit Classic Rock Station WCSX-99.8 FM. The tickets were actually $.99 American but you had to pick them up at the radio station and could only get 2 at a time. The other band to be one of the 1st to play The Palace was Pink Floyd sponsored by WRIF-101.1 FM. Those tickets were $1.01 American with the same rules. My friends and I (about 20 in all) went to each of these shows. My biggest memory of the C.S.N show was when David Crosby was 1st shown on the big Palace screen someone yelled out "It's Grandpa Jones" to which Graham Nash answers "And He's a pickin' and a grinnin'!" (People who gets this joke just gave away their age...LOL!!)

In Memory of Terry Kath 12/31/1946 - 01/23/1978
Chicago was never the same after the death of Terry Kath at age 31, by an accidental self inflicted gun shot wound to the head on January 23, 1978. Terry was the guiding light and Rock & Roll Soul of the band. Although the band experimented with many different styles of music, there was always a Rock & Roll base. After Terry Kath died Peter Cetera stepped up as lead song writer. The band was forever chasing the Top 40 Charts after that. Disco, AOR and 1980's ballads crushed even the diehards when it came to album sales. Chicago however has enjoyed a very strong live career. When I last saw them about 10 or 15 years ago they were still a solid live band, never a bad show in the 10 shows of there's I saw.
Now there are only 3 remaining founding members, Robert Lamm keyboards & vocals, Lee Loughnane, trumpet, James Pankow, trombone.
