Manic Monday--BOIL THAT DUSTSPECK!!!

What a beautiful morning! Whatever shall we do?

Hey, I know--let's ruin a Dr. Seuss classic!!

Poor Teena feels likes she's being watched all the time:

Meanwhile...

Whhaattt.......!?!?!?

Yup, so Horton Rod Banton is totally stalking women on this sub-atomic dustspeck!!

Now, admit it--if they were both full-size, you'd be going "EWWWWWWW" right now, right?

Oh, Lorna....you can't smash an atom with a hammer!!

Plus....BOIL THAT DUSTSPECK!!

Well, yeah, but...BOIL THAT DUSTSPECK!! BOIL THAT DUSTSPECK!! BOIL! BOIL!!

Anyway, back to our stalking...

Except that Teena has now fallen in love with her stalker!!

Well, she's snatched by kidnappers--did I mention that the girl Rod "fell in love with" and stalked just happened to have a father who is a millionaire?! What to do?!?!?

Wait, wait, wait...you invented a super sub-atomic microscope AND a fully-functional teleporter? What the hell, Rod, are you Reed Richards, or what?!?

Well, he gets the in the nick of time...

And of course, it's true love forever!!

Wait a minute--telepathy? What the...?

Of course it is....

On back on Zannia, jealous Lorna is about to put a kibosh on the forbidden romance:

BOIL THAT DUSTSPECK!!!!

Wait...she was two-timing him?!?!?!

Oh, Dr. Seuss, what have you wrought?

Until the Grinch shows up, that is...

From Lost Worlds #5 (1952). For the record, that's two years before Horton Hears A Who...

Your Tax Dollars At Work--Anti-Mosquito Propaganda!!

In 1943, Theodor Geisel was a captain in the U.S. Army...

At the time, the U.S. was sending a lot of troops to various tropical areas...

...so the War Department had good old Dr. Seuss draw up a pamphlet educating soldiers on the dangers of malaria!

It was a pretty elementary effort, as you can see...

...but Seuss drew great mosquitoes!

OK, so it ain't War And Peace...

Huh...Dr. Seuss writing about "strip teasers"!!

Ahhh!!!

Sure, it was cheap and rudimentary...but it's more than Congress is willing to spend these days on fighting insect-born disease....

This Is Ann is from 1943
