A Warning For Wednesday

Look, I know it's Wednesday, and you were looking forward to the clam chowder.

But for gosh sakes...

...please make sure you have bean soup available for Earth-1 Julie Schwartz!!

This scene probably never happened on Earth-Prime...

From Superman #411 (1985), the special issue celebrating Schwartz's 70th birthday.

Batman's OTHER Job

You know all the wonderful 100 Page Super Spectaculars and Super Giants and other exciting and monstrously large issues DC liked to put out in the 60s and early 70s?

Well, did you ever wonder exactly HOW they decided which stories to reprint in those? Well, thanks to Super DC Giant #16 (1970), the truth can finally be told:

Ha ha...Barry just tricked Batman into choosing the Flash team-up from Brave & The Bold #67!!

After that story...

And Metamorpho just influenced Batman to pick the very first Metamorpho story, from B&TB #57.

Just so we're clear on the concept, Batman takes nights off from fighting crime to travel to New York and pick reprint stories for DC.

And his "friends" play tricks on Batman to get him to pick stories featuring them.

You know, this explains so much about why Batman made the choices he did in Tower Of Babel...

And to conclude our framing sequence:

Julius Schwartz just called THE GODDAMNED BATMAN "bush." DC editors--balls of steel!

"Swing"?? Oh, Bob Haney...
