Britains Deetail 54mm Foot Storm Knight (Saracen / Turk) No. 703

The last six posts have covered the figures included in the Britains Storm Knights Set No. 7776. That set had seven figures in six poses. Five of those poses were from the original Saracens/Turks series  (nomenclature depends on who you talk to - I haven't been able to verify the proper names yet) but the last figure in the box was just one of Britains armored Knights painted black. Today we complete the look of the original six Saracen/Turk poses with this No 703 figure. I got the figure without weapon but fortunately sets of repo weapons are available on eBay. I pulled a spear out of my set and hooked our little warrior up with something to fight with and took the pics. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

Britains Deetail No. 909 Knight in Black Storm Knight paint

Here was the last figure in my Britains Deetail Set No. 7776. This was from the era in which Britains took their older series of Knights, painted them black and called them, along with the Saracens - 'Storm Knights'. As Medieval lore is full of stories of rogue black Knights one could certainly use guys like this in a gaming scenario or 'good guy vs. bad' guy diorama. Enjoy! Britains Deetail 54mm Foot Storm Knight (Foot Turk / Saracen) No. 708

Well, well, well, a little controversy has set in among the on-line groups I belong to as to whether Britains used the term 'Saracens' or 'Turks' prior to them renaming the line 'Storm Knights'! The trouble, the only reference book on Britains I'm aware of costs $75! - ouch. Yeah, I'm not ready to shell out that much right now. As for the 'Storm Knights' designation, some opinion appears to be that the 'Storm Knights' nomenclature came about to take advantage of the Sword and Fantasy gaming craze but what they were called prior is still up in the air. Anywho, here's the fifth of six poses included in my particular set of Storm Knights. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

Britains Deetail 54mm Foot Storm Knight (Foot Turk / Saracen) No. 707

Well, I think I learned something this weekend about this series of Britains Deetail figures. Apparently prior to 1986 they were referred to by Britains as 'Saracens'. The original set of six poses wore traditional Middle Eastern battle raiment's - soft garb with little-to-no armor. Then in 1986 Britains started painting some of their armored Knights black and lumped them along with the Saracens into the 'Storm Knight' category. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
