Payton Products, Inc. Little Green Army Men - Pt 70 Sets: Pt 12 Payton Vehicle 'STAR' Set (Dark) with Star Appliques Pt 4 Troop Carrier Truck

The troop carrier truck is a staple of Little Green Army Men sets and the nice thing about this one is that it's open in the back which allows you to easily place seated men - or cargo - back there.

Payton Products, Inc. Little Green Army Men - Pt 54 Miscellaneous Vehicles Pt 2 Delivery Van - Yellow SP

First up is this 'Delivery Van' in yellow soft vinyl plastic. These are copies of Renwal's van which was made in a hard styrene plastic. The van measures 4.125" (10,47cm)  x 1.5" (3,81cm) W x 1.125" (2,85cm) H.

'DELIVERY VAN' is molded on the roof but is a bear to make out in the photograph

The trucks have 'PAYTON PRODUCTS, INC.' molded underneath, but they were - for me - practically impossible to photograph regardless of the color of the truck. Anywho, the markings are there.

Payton Products, Inc. Little Green Army Men - Pt 53 Miscellaneous Vehicles Pt 1

For the next few days we're gonna look at a couple of miscellaneous vehicles that Payton sometimes packaged with their sets:

-Delivery Van

-Tanker Truck

both in soft vinyl plastic

I have seen photos of these two trucks in olive green - which one would expect to see in Little Green Army Men sets. BUT, just as the aircraft came in olive green and various bright colors, it would not surprise me if Payton packaged the brighter colored trucks in the sets as well. I say all that because the olive green trucks are VHTF while the bright colored trucks are a easier to track down, leading me to believe you were more likely to find a colored truck in a set than anything else.

(NOTE: Kent Owen Sprecher's 'Toy Soldier HQ' has been hosted by Angelfire for the past twenty years. Angelfire was recently purchased by another company and the first thing they did was screw it all up!! Apparently none of the blogs hosted by Angelfire are now viewable. Let's hope the incompetent fools are able to fix their screw up and bring Kent's website back on-line!)

TRAIN TIME: 2023 Veteran's Day Lionel Running Session with Payton Toy Co. Army Vehicle's

Happy veteran's Day To All That Have Served

I've been AWOL this week for a variety of reasons but it just boils down to being busy! Taking down the Halloween train layout and starting to set up the Christmas layout has been an on-going project this week. As well, it didn't help waking up Wednesday morning only to realize I had a dental appointment that morning (cleaning). Crap!

While all this was going on, I was trying to put together some kind of train and tribute for Veteran's Day. Here's what I ended up with:

The train itself includes the following:

-Lionel #6-18456 Minuteman Diesel Engine #59 (this is their Postwar Celebration piece from 2002 - not an original Postwar piece):

-Lionel #6650 IRBM Launcher Flat Car from 1959-63

-Lionel Post War #6401(A) Lt Gray (no load) (mid1960s)

The #6401(A) designation was for this flat car in light gray and without a load. The cars were apparently available in sets starting in the mid-1960s and came with a variety of loads, including Payton Army vehicles.

-Lionel #6814 Rescue Unit Work Caboose from 1959-61
