Payton Products, Inc. Little Green Army Men - Pt 60 Sets: Pt 2 Salesman Sheets

These salesman sheets are in my collection. Salesman sheets were a very handy tool for salesmen wanting to hawk their goods at a retailer. Instead of carrying around a suitcase full of samples, all they had to do was open their briefcase and pull out a few of these sheets showing what the company offered. If you look closely, you'll notice all the different variety of toys I've been covering since the beginning of January.

Lots and lots of planes here. Trying to discern the various types of planes and matching the sheets to actual toys is a challenge.
Set No. 226 (top, middle) contains several automobiles that I do not have in the collection.

In an earlier post I alluded to a Payton aircraft which was much larger than the ones blogged. Well, here it is - a beautiful B-17 bomber which actually drops bombs. I've never seen one of these and would really love to get a hold of one!

Payton Products, Inc. Little Green Army Men - Pt 52 Airplanes: Pt 17 Mini-Fighter Jet (With Wing Tanks) - Olive Green SP

This is exactly the same plane as was posted yesterday, but with wing tanks added. The dimensions are the same as well.

Payton Products, Inc. Little Green Army Men - Pt 51 Airplanes: Pt 16 Mini-Fighter Jet (No Wing Tanks)

In one of Payton's ads they referred to these jets as 'pursuit planes' - works for me. This one measures 2.25" (5,71cm) L x 2.75" (6,98cm) wingspan x .625" (1,58cm) H. It almost appears as if Payton's designers wanted to add separate wheels for these dinky little planes, but then backed off. You'll notice that instead on one landing gear leg on either wing, there are two. Why? Jets like this didn't have four landing gear legs in real life so I'm guessing Payton started to design it for separate wheels but then just said to heck with it and molded the plane with just the legs and no wheels.

Payton Products, Inc. Little Green Army Men - Pt 49 Airplanes: Pt 14 Mini-Fighter Jet - Sabre - Blue SP

The Sabre was the Cold War's premier fighter jet and is instantly recognizable. While Payton's other planes may be generic, there's no mistaking the swept back wings and lines of this one. It measures 2.5" (6,35cm) L x 2.625" (6,66cm) wingspan x .625" (1,58cm) H.
